I said I would post a bunch of pics of my yearly trip to the Mayan Riviera. So here goes.
Karen and I have been spending a month every winter in the Mayan Riviera. We have stayed at a all inclusive on Akumal Bay for the last 7 or 8 years. We love it there, the beach is just footsteps from our room and we can snorkel from shore as much as we want. It is located on a large bay that is protected by the coral reef that runs across the front of the bay. You can always snorkel there because of this and we rarely see a red flag.
We also meet up with friends there every year. They are from Colarado, Los Angeles, Michigan, Wisconsin, Alberta BC etc. It is a great get together. We have also made friends with some of the locals there.
Here is the bay we snorkel and swim in. This is taken from beside our main Bar area.

Below is a view from our balcony.

We love to go fishing, here is a picture of the Panga we go out on with the locals. We have caught Mahi-mahi, grouper, red snapper, barracuda etc.

We walk into the small village a lot, it is about a 1/2 mile down the beach. Here is the bay at dusk as we are returning back to the resort from Akumal.

It is always very quiet and serene there. Here is a shot from the resort during a Full Moon.

Karen and I snorkel almost every day for a couple of hours during our month there. I love to take underwater pictures, unfortunately my underwater camera took on water after a couple of weeks so it was pooched. Time for a new underwater camera for next year.
Here are a bunch of underwater pics I took this year. Some of the pics are a bit grainy or not real clear due to the winds stirring up the water.
Sting Ray

Couple of Turtle Pictures.

A mature Stoplight Parrotfish Chewing on the Coral. You can actually hear them chewing on the coral from 20 feet away.

A Stoplight Parrotfish with a bunch of other Fish.

A Giant Rainbow Parrotfish, these fish grow over a meter in length. This fish was in very murky water in 4 feet of water.

A couple of pics of a Scrawled Filefish.

A Gray Angelfish, there are many different kinds of Angelfish in the Bay.

Lots of Barracuda in the Bay, I have seen some over 5 feet long.

A Black Grouper, this guy was close to 6 feet long.

Lots of Blue Tangs in the Bay

A School of Blue Tangs.

This is a Juvenile Blue Tang, they are yellow when they are young, then turn to blue.

A Chub.

A Damselfish.

A couple of Foureye Butterflyfish.

A Dog Snapper, he was big, over 4 feet.

A couple of pictures of Lionfish, they are an invasive species and their quills are very poisonous. Our friends went scuba diving and speared these.

As you can see we love snorkelling and watching the wildlife under the surface. Everyday is an adventure and we always see something new. I usual take at least a couple hundred underwater pics and videos each holiday. The above are only a few.
I guess I should show a couple pics of Karen and I down there.

Here we are with one of our local Mexican friends.

I was enjoying myself at a friends Casa, their Casa had an Infinity Pool right on the shoreline of the Caribbean.

Well I better stop posting pics, I have probably put too many on here already.
