I said I would post a bunch of pics of my yearly trip to the Mayan Riviera. So here goes.

Karen and I have been spending a month every winter in the Mayan Riviera. We have stayed at a all inclusive on Akumal Bay for the last 7 or 8 years. We love it there, the beach is just footsteps from our room and we can snorkel from shore as much as we want. It is located on a large bay that is protected by the coral reef that runs across the front of the bay. You can always snorkel there because of this and we rarely see a red flag.
We also meet up with friends there every year. They are from Colarado, Los Angeles, Michigan, Wisconsin, Alberta BC etc. It is a great get together. We have also made friends with some of the locals there.

Here is the bay we snorkel and swim in. This is taken from beside our main Bar area.

Below is a view from our balcony.

We love to go fishing, here is a picture of the Panga we go out on with the locals. We have caught Mahi-mahi, grouper, red snapper, barracuda etc.

We walk into the small village a lot, it is about a 1/2 mile down the beach. Here is the bay at dusk as we are returning back to the resort from Akumal.

It is always very quiet and serene there. Here is a shot from the resort during a Full Moon.

Karen and I snorkel almost every day for a couple of hours during our month there. I love to take underwater pictures, unfortunately my underwater camera took on water after a couple of weeks so it was pooched. Time for a new underwater camera for next year.
Here are a bunch of underwater pics I took this year. Some of the pics are a bit grainy or not real clear due to the winds stirring up the water.

As you can see we love snorkelling and watching the wildlife under the surface. Everyday is an adventure and we always see something new. I usual take at least a couple hundred underwater pics and videos each holiday. The above are only a few.

I guess I should show a couple pics of Karen and I down there.

I was enjoying myself at a friends Casa, their Casa had an Infinity Pool right on the shoreline of the Caribbean.

Well I better stop posting pics, I have probably put too many on here already.

Great photos! Never too many coming from you and Karen! Is that a watermelon you're holding? Ha!

:good:

Such a tease. Pictures are awesome. Looks like you both had a fantastic time. I have no idea why you returned.

It's actually a coconut, the gardener at my friends Casa, climbed the tree and got it. Once I got out of the pool, he cut it open for us and we filled it with the coconut milk, ice and rum, it was yummy.

You're a wiser man than the rest of us for staying in this horrible weather. Looks great.

Those are some nice pictures of the surgeon fish, Parrot and Damsel. Those damel fish are really territorial. and the butterfly fish are really unique with so many varieties. My question about the lion fish they looked pretty small plus didnt know that you can eat them.

Concerning the Lionfish , there are some places that are starting to offer them in their restaurants down there. They are selling them as a specialty dish. I guess you have to be very careful cleaning them. Personally I have not tried them.

We go to Tulum every year...and love it the same!
We also love Tulum, fantastic beaches that go on forever. We have good friends that run I-Tours in Tulum and also have made friends with a local couple that have a Jewellery store on 307 in Tulum.

I guess much like Fugu Fish which are very poisonus from japan, Btw I didnt know you could eat parrot fish until I saw as pretty as those fish are too wow. Anyway some amazing pictures of some really beautiful fish makes me want to start up my salt water tank again.

Glad you and the Misses had a very nice time.
