my recent update:smile (2):.

the bass station is a new line of powered subwoofer from kicker. i am satisfied with the stock bose system but just want to improve the bass. i also need something compact since i tend to load my folding bike and/or baby stuff. i almost end up buying a set of sub and amp until a few days ago when best buy started carrying the one i need. the PT10 10" package includes the sub and amp enclosure that measures about 19" x 8" x 13", a quick connect harness that has all the wires including power connected to a molex connector. the package also comes with straps to keep the enclosure in place. also, a bass remote is provided and will be installed later inside the center console compartment. i had it installed at bestbuy, since the installer owns a murano and familiar with what needs to be done.

i appreciate all the info and diy here esp the pics and wires to use for this install, i got it installed without any issues. also, kicker customer support initially guided me on what sub and enclosure works best for my music (hard rock and speed metal = sealed, 10" max for proper response). the only thing that took time was splicing the black, white, and pink wires, wrapping the harness with tape, and hiding the wires. the installer made a point of keeping it hidden and clean.

here's the result. i picked the side where the controls are including the connector so it is not too visible. i can also access the controls by folding the seat and reaching from the door if needed. im thinking of skipping drilling holes on the cargo to secure the enclosure straps and may just try some velcro on the base and the side.

i wasnt sure what to expect since this is only 100w, but i was shocked:eek:. this small powered sub is deceivingly loud. my megadeth, pantera, and slayer tunes now have punch and rumble with it. i still need to play with the settings and so far i can listen at level 10-12 vs before at 14-16. at my current base at 1, and sub gain at 4 out of 11, my rear view mirror vibrates much more. now i can feel the double bass as well. im even thinking the smaller 8" will work well with my music since at times it sounds too much and i have to set the bass to 0. kicker also has an 8", single and dual 12" packages as well.

i highly recommend this to anyone looking for a compact and simple solution to improve the bass on the stock system.

p.s. while i was there, an older gentleman checked out the fx while waiting, asked if that was my ride, and gave a lot of compliments. i had him guess the year since he asked, and he said 08. i smiled and told him 03.

Wow FX looks good man. I skipped the write up and drooled over the pictures first haha.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you have to pay for the install at best buy?

i dont have a cargo cover, but looks like it will clear (my seats are slightly reclined on the pics). im waiting for the liner and the cover to show up on cl ads.

anyone local and considering this is welcome to meet with me to see if it clears and to get an idea on the added bass it provides. (mtbfx' tiny sub and meet? :smile (2):)

socal needs another meet! :smile (2): im heading to best buy later to install the remote bass control. also bought $3 industrial velcro to secure the sub.

p.s. cheryl also is looking into setting up another meet at metro.

looks good man, nice and compact... i have something similar but my box is a little deeper, and just barely clears my cover.... your fx looks good too

im crazy to get a 12'' kicker on my fx i just dont know if to go with 2- 12'' or only one! :confused.: how much did they charge you??? for the instal??

id contact kicker to be sure. dual 12" might be too much since my single 10 is quite loud already.

i finally got the bass remote installed in the center section glove box so it is out of sight. kinda akward to reach while sitting and i think the ash tray below the clock will be an excellent placement instead since the remote fits perfectly inside.

Thanks for the tip MTBFX, just installed one this past weekend. It was a breeze and works quite well. Keeping physically in one place will be a challenge as I've got a cargo mat I'd like to keep. At the moment I've got the thing tied down with the included piece of velcro straps to the left side buckle in the cargo area. Works, but not ideal looking.

DIY writeup of BOSE wiring diagram made this a < 1 hour install. Still need to put in the remote gain control, wanted to put it in the ashtray compartment, but the length out of the back will make that a little less than perfect. Like you, I'll probably opt for a spot in the center console. I'll do that after dash/front door speaker upgrade in a couple of weeks.

Thing hits pretty hard for a 'system in a box' @ 100w pk!!

Thanks again!!

Make securing it a priority. Don't want it to become a deadly projectile in a sudden stop or accident.
