I'm over at Innovative Tuning in Buffalo to have my FX50 tuned with UpRev Osiris.

They are charging $599 which less than other tuners (quoted $650-800 at other places), and are local to my school, so I decided to give them a try.

Looking at other FX50 owners who have had theirs tuned with decent gains (Shumby - ~30hp for example) I'm excited to see what happens.

Current engine mods include K&N drop-ins, custom HKS replica dual-caniser mufflers (factory Cats, factory resonators)

They have a Mustang AWD dyno (their expertise is subaru)

Hopefully I will emerge with round 30hp more! :rotfl:

(They won't let me out of the sitting area…even just to watch my car on the dyno)

yeah, the place looks kind of hood but they're known in the local suby/AWD world...

update:
:at-wits-end:
I've been here for about 3 hours - there is a problem with the software being used. Apparently whenever they make a change it doesn't "save"
They were able to make a few alterations and get "about 5hp and 5fttq" but apparently are locked out of making any other changes.
They've been contacting UpRev for assistance and luckily I brought my laptop/textbook for studying (I figured it would take a few hours) so I'm just doing that while we await an answer.

it seems this isn't the first time this has been an issue, although when I brought up Shumby's "speed limiter"/5th gear issue this tuner said that it wouldn't effect what he's doing because it's unnecessary to be in 5th gear / over even 120mph so it doesn't make a difference. I even showed them Shumby's dyno chart and tried to call the tuner he used /osiris myself but apparently they are hesitant to help because this place isn't a "Pro Tuner"
Luckily I don't have much to do but study, so hopefully this all gets figured out.

So, now we wait. I should have just waited till I was home and went to VinnyTen or performance Motorsport for the extra ~$150

Now I am kicking myself for not getting HFC's before the tune, although a retune is only about $150…...

Let's see what happens….

Yeah I mean it's been almost 2 hours since they were talking to the UpRev guy, and apparently it's not solved yet. So glad I brought my stuff to study. So close to saying fuck it call me when you have the answer. They better have a fix or let me go but I am not paying the $599 for an unfinished tune.

I'm regretting coming here now…truly annoying. This is technically my 'first' dyno tune (not dyno run) so I'm trying to remain positive while my car just sits there on the dyno, apparently waiting for UpRev to get back to the tuner….

Good luck with it Jordan.

I have been to that shop that Shumby got his up rev and dyno at. It is an awesome shop and I have seen cars on the dyno there. It's called Lightspeed Innovations and is in Red Deer , Alberta. Wish that shop was closer, they are a great group of guys there.

Apparently this is all on UpRev and their horrible customer/tuner help/service. I'm not sure why it would take so long to respond/look over files, etc. We had the guy on the phone, he said to send a file or something, then we don't hear back form him. Truly irritating. I don't want to talk crap about the tuner because it seems to be UpRev's fault right now for having horrible response time, which apparently they are notorious for.

This isn't a ROM issue apparently. I just had a convo with the tuner about it - UpRev's tables they provided for my Ignition timing were WRONG meaning they were not the proper ones to be able to tune it…. so, 4 hours later after "we didn't get your email" and some excuses they are apparently sending us 2 other tables that "should be" the correct ones for the Ignition timing…..
Apparently the throttle, Rev limiter, Speed Limiter, A/F, and a few other things were all tune-able, it was just that the ignition timing tables were incorrect.

After sitting for a few hours they just started it back up to warm it up, still waiting on the tables from UpRev but they should be in "within 20 minutes"

Hopefully this solves the problem. otherwise the Tuner just said I can drive it like this, with the current changes, until they get the 'right' file from UpRev. (hopefully I don't need to pay in full until then)

Fingers crossed that the ones they are sending is correct….

Im still confused - it's not like I'm the first to tune an FX50…...

Good Luck bro. I only paid $500 for mine and I was up and personal with them when they were tuning my car last week. Even drank a nice scotch while waiting. The shop I went to was in Carlisle PA. Let me know if you need their info!

Is it VVEL?
my car is but idk if that's the issue.

Good deal, haha.

Very unusual that they won't allow you near the car while it's being tuned

it's because there isn't much room to "watch" back there…. if you see the pic the dyno area is sort of it's own "wing" then when it opens to the main room there are lifts etc. so it's just a safety thing… Ic an still watch from the waiting area.

my view:

yes, I was surprised how hood the shop looked too… I think my local meineke at home is tidier

He's doing some pulls now…this is probably the 15th one today. Hopefully there is some progress...

Dude that shop looks like it's in Iraq! Is that a hole in the floor at 1 oclock?, right after passenger side lift??

No hole, haha. Obviously they haven't been spending money on redoing the interior of the place… very utilitarian...

He's been starting and shutting off the motor a few times… not sure what's going on..

Do you want to speak to my tuner? He can help you out and lead you to the right direction dude!! PM me your cell number. They never shut of my motor once!

They're taking it off the dyno now…let's see what happened. I would love to speak to him but it may be different because it's a 2nd gen.

So, the results are in:

RESULTS: Gain of about 5hp and 12tq, giving me

329hp and 338tq
at the wheels (Mustang Dyno)

baseline is 325hp, 326tq (unlike the "I gained 33hp/9tq" FX https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?....9935.110830775640729&type=1&relevant_count=1)

Modifications
K&N Drop-ins
HKS Replica Dual mufflers
Stock cats, Stock resonators.

The Tune:
Adjusted A/F
Removed Rev/Speed Limiter
Removed fuel cutout w/ braking (for "launching")
(Couldn't adjust Ignition timing)
True 100% WOT
ETC.

Right now I guess the car does drive better than it did before, feels peppier. Obvi I'm not going to feel 5hp/12tq but the driving is a bit different from adjusting the WOT, etc.

Dyno printout:

I'm going to try and get HFC or test pipes, maybe change the stock resonators too, then do a retune (may also try and do custom intakes w/ ducts)
then hopefully by then ignition timing adjustment will be available again… however…...

FYI UPREV IS SUSPENDING SUPPORT FOR THE INFINITI FX50 Until they can "figure out" the issue with the Ignition timing..:eek.:
So I guess everyone will have to wait a bit until they figure this out before tuning….
They "don't have" the correct files/tables for ignition timing tuning and therefore you cannot get a "full" tune with osiris…
also there is nO WAY to see KNOCK while tuning the FX50….another problem

I still recommend getting a dull custom tune, regardless of what happened to me today. Plus, if you have more mods it makes sense to get a 'real' tune… I barely have any mods, but after I add HFC / maybe custom intake (and hopefully after they figure out ignition tuning issue) I will be back in for a proper tune
