How reliable has your 2nd gen 2009+ FX35/50 been?

Just thought about starting this thread and keeping it updated with our milestones for 2nd gen people only. This is in no way related to the mileage thread on here. This will have some good references for people in the future. Put down any problems, expenses, etc etc you've dealed with on your 2009+ FX35/50. Also put down the miles your currently at so we know.

2009 FX 36,500 miles as of 7/16/2011:

1. Driver and passenger side view mirrors wobbling and rattling. I found a DIY on here and tighten the 3 hidden screws and the bottom of the mirrors and the problem went away.

2. Center console squeaking. I found a DIY and took the console apart myself only to find the AC cooled seat switches rubbing up against the shifter panel. I applied felt tape in between and the noise went way.

3. Rear seats kept making rubbing noises when reclined. Applied leather conitioner and noise went away.

4. Popping noise from lower windshield area when going over bumps. Found outside windshield cowl was clogged with dirt and rubbing up against the windshield. Cleaned windshield cowl, installed it back on and noise went away.

5. Gas lid door wouldn't lock when alarm is set. Dealer looked at it and found out it had never been programmed. They used the Consult III machine and programed it and it now works.

6. Catalytic Converters making a ticking noise while idling. I'll get that looked at again when I go back to the dealer.

7. Brake popping noise when parking. I'll also have the dealer look at that when I go back in.

8. Steering wheel tilt and telescoping function stopped working. Dealer replace steering wheel comfort adjustment motor per TSB.

Everything has been pretty reliable so far. Just those little annoyances as I mentioned above. No big deal though since I really didn't have to make any trips to the dealer to do it. I've spent $0 on the FX so far since I'm still under warranty obviously. Only maintenance things I paid for like the tranny fluid, differentials, transfer case fluid, wipers, filters, and motor oil changes.

couple of issues

So far mostly so good. Three issues in my 2010 FX35 AWD.

1. Driver side seat heater switch failed. Would turn on with the car when set to heat, would stop and turn off after 5-10 minutes. Required a car shutdown and restart to reset. Dealer replaced switch and problem went away.

2. Power Point in center console failed. The 12V plug. Dealer just replaced this week as it took me a while to get the car into the shop

3. CD player wouldn't eject. Dealer checked it and said eject function broken. Ordering my a new audio unit for next week.

Not so much an issue as I had been abusing the trunk a little with kids stuff, I find the paint on the rear bumper cover scratches and chips very easy. A $75 chip repair cost my $150. Now i have a new chip, and am waiting to see if i can get it done cheaper somewhere else.

I've never had to take my 09 FX35 in for a problem, just regular maintenance. I have 44,000 kms on it.
Edit, I did have the transmissin reflash done even though it was shifting fine.

The wood is shaking?? You mean peeling right? Because thats a common problem on 09 models with wood. Mirrors are an easy fix. The screws hidden at the bottom need tighten. I did it on mine. Simple 5 minute fix :-]

I just past 10,000km on my 2010 fx35.

1) trunk door plastic handle too loose. wasn't happy with the way dealer fixed it. they just put some tapes around it. I am taking it to another dealer next time
2) driver side chair makes sqeeky sound
3) passanger side door takes "a bit" more force to close
4) passanger chair heater shuts off sometimes, dealer said it's a feature. wtf

mile so far

so far ~18,000 miles due to my driving some 50 miles a day to and from work. Lots of weekend driving and switching car seats in and out with the wife's Camry. 2 year old twins in the backseat with big seats

Absolutely no issues with my 2009 FX35 (shipped in first group, Dec 2008 from Japan too). I think I had a minor squeak in my actual break pedal, other then that, the car is work horse, tank. Never an issue.

My 2009 FX50S (21,000 miles) has been very reliable with no major issues at all. The minor issues it had were like some of the ones Fire0nic3FX's had:

8. Steering wheel tilt and telescoping function stopped working. Dealer replace steering wheel comfort adjustment motor per TSB.

I purchased my FX35 2009 last November, pre-owned. Since that time and with 20k miles so far:
1. Wood trim passenger side (both front and back) peeled off. Replaced under warranty.
2. VCD light stayed on couple times, but reset itself. Later Engine Service Soon light came on. Dealer made a couple of adjustments and makes me change rear break pads.
3. Still need to check a noise on brakes when stop car at low speed.

I have 4 yo twin boys, and an 8 yo daughter. They love hanging turns in the FX, especially when the rear tires screech.

~19k miles. Door panels replaced. Mirrors loose.

2010 Fx50. 15k miles.

1. Loose rear strut brace bolts - caused a constant creaking sound in the rear driver side when moving over angled roads/driveways. Dealer seems to have pretty much taken my car apart trying to find it, which pisses me off to no end. Found that they 1) left the engine side covers completely loose (wtf were they doing in there trying to fix a noise in the rear?) Drivers door "may" have a new wind sound (could be my imagination) caused by their work. Still testing.

2. USB connection failed. Replaced headunit/nav and ended up also improving performance of the system considerably :) Known issue with 2010 FX I believe.

3. Side mirrors loose also. Will check on tightening options.

Other than that so far so good. Love the vehicle!

im really not sure i read about the peeling or cracking on here didnt think it was the same my wood on the drivers door is like its gonna come of it lifting up ...not sure if its the same thing with you guys ....but took the car to the dealer this past week for reflash they did the mirrors and told me after ...

2010 with 28000 miles

Passanger Front window motor is making more noise than normal while rolling up. Might be motor going bad. Gonna take it in on my next oil change

2009 with 35k and here are some problems

1. Gas cap string just broke off
2. Pull latch in the rear seats to bring down the rear console snapped off
3. Not sure what you call it- but it's the slim foam type cover attached to the trunk lid ripped at the seam. Cover came off
4. Screw popped interior driver door, lining a lil loose at the top

Service Engine Soon Light Came On

Miles= 37,209

I was driving yesterday and my service engine soon (SES) light came on. Scared the shit out of me because that hasn't happened to me before haha. First time I've seen it on. Took it into the dealer this morning and they pulled up the code for it P0116. Apparently there is some bulletin out for this. Here is my invoice:

Only took them about 20 minutes to fix it. Under warranty ofcoarse:smile (2):
