So I've been hearing that the new G37 engine is the same as the 09 fx35 engine.
I'm DIEING to mod this thing, something! ...so I did a little research for a little ol' intake...here's what I got...

So that's a 09 g37 STOCK.

That's a 09 G37 with a brand new month old Injen Intake...Injens main site says it can also be a CAI.

So here's a 09 FX35...

Now, check this out..

First thing's first - just as you'd expect, the higher number in the G37's name denotes a larger displacement engine. The 2007 model's VQ35 3.5-liter has been stroked to 3.7 liters. The new engine, dubbed VQ37VHR, now has an 86-mm stroke (up from 81.4 mm) and a compression ratio that is, at 11.0:1, four-tenths of a point higher.

**The biggest news about the engine, however, is that it is the world's first application of Nissan's VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology. Like BMW's Valvetronic, VVEL eliminates the need for a conventional throttle butterfly, controlling engine output by continually and steplessly varying valve lift and timing. The V-6 retains a conventional throttle butterfly, but it's used for emissions-related purposes only, according to Nissan.

By having infinite control over both valve lift and timing, Nissan was able to flatten the VQ's torque curve at both the bottom and top of the rpm range. The result is that while the 3.7-liter's 270 lb-ft peak torque is only 2 lb-ft higher than the 3.5-liter's, the curve shows improvements of about six percent down low and four percent up high.

The increase in high-rpm torque results, of course, in more horsepower. The G37 is preliminarily rated at 330 horsepower. And as a result of VVEL, it should beat the 3.5-liter's EPA fuel economy ratings. Now that's progress.

Nissan says that, compared with BMW's Valvetronic, VVEL is 32% quicker to respond, 20% smaller, and uses 52% less parts per cylinder. It also allows the engine to rev higher - the 3.7-liter is redlined at 7,500rpm.

The G37 will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission (6MT) or a 5-speed automatic. 6MT and sport-pack automatics, like the test mule we drove, will have limited-slip differentials.

Even with the automatic, we noticed no throttle lag from the VVEL. Indeed, the throttle was precise enough to help us do exactly what the G Coupe loves to do best - fantastic power-slides.

hmm...
So the engines are different after all?

That's an 08 G35 engine...

Will it work ?
What do you guys think?

I'm sure you could make it work. Might not be able to mount it down though, but you could fab something. I would love to try.

I'm searching and searching for friggin install instructions on the 08 g35 injen intake and I can't find shit! ... I'd like to compare the instructions to my engine bay to see if the mounting points really are different and if it's manageable...

Can anyone round up install instructions???? It'd be one step closer to getting this intake in my fx...

I just hope my engine doesn't blow up in the process..thennnn I'm fu*ked.

you tried calling them? I would just order it and return/sell it if it doesnt fit.

I tried e-mailing injen, no response, these basteds!
(i'm from ny)

So I been out of the car modding game for a few years now, used to have an Acura RSX type-s .. had an injen cai in that bitch...then went to the infiniti fam, had an m35 sport. .. now I rockin a FX35.
I just want a little sexy sound comin out of this thing.
After June, I wanna do some small (not corny) cosmetic shits...we'll see.

Arrrrright, SO I'm doing further research, trying to find similarities and differences between the 08 g35 engine and the 09 fx engine... seems nissan uses the vq35/vq35de engine in most of their line up - .. maxima, altima, g's, fx's... So look wise, the engines look the same from what you can see in the pics I layed out in the original post... their probably identical...
All specs are pretty much identical (08 g35 & 09 fx35).
However the 08 g35 sports a VQ35 engine, the 09 fx has a VQ35DE. Hence, the "DE" at the end there...

Did MORE research, "DE" stands for :
D - Dual Overhead Cam
E - Electronic Fuel Injection

...so as you can read from the specs of both cars I posted above...they both have 'multi-point fuel injection'
...but the fx has electronic fuel injection?? Does that mean the g35 didn't? I don't know... I'm getting REALLY technical with this cuz I really don't wanna fu*k my engine up- it's a lease.

What do you guys think? Some one HELP ME search for info, it's late and I got work early tomorrow!!

((...almost 100% sure I'm gnna attempt this))

This has much potential to not work after reading your misjudgement on the VQ engine labels. Maybe it will work though, I just think that if you are missing things as basic as the right engine, you will miss something even more obscure. But two wrongs can make a right, so we shall see.

I don't think it will be that hard to make it work, maybe bend your own bracket to that heatshield. I also don't want to sound like a downer but this kit isn't much of a kit. Almost the same as a K&N drop-in only it adds a MAF sensor housing so you can use a round filter instead of a flat one. I would go for a complete intake with tubes and all or a K&N drop-in if the first choice is not available yet.

If you already ordered it, at least it will sound cool when you hit the gas!
enjoy and let us know how the install goes

Hyme,

...damn I didn't even realize it, but this intake really doesn't come with the tubes...I thought it was a dual intake with the two polished tubes..like a reg short ram intake..wwwwhaatttt the Fu*K!

...$400 dollars for air filters!!

If it sounds nice, then whatever I guess..but I was just looking forward to the nice polished tubes on both sides of my engine.. but I literally didn't even notice that the two polished tubes aren't there. This blows ass. Installation should be 10x easier then...all I really gotta do is remove the stock air box.. - stick in the MAF sensor and I should be done...what do you think?

... thatttttttt's fu*kin terrible!

I'm like an idiot, I didn't catch it.

If you paid $400 I would try to return them, that sounds steep for what your actually getting.
If you don't mind it too much you could do as merchant said but chances are the angle of those tubes may be off a bit. If so flex couplers might fix that problem.
I would find out how long those ebay tubes are and if you can get away with it 45ing right off the throttle body or if it has to come out some.
