I ordered for 2004 FX45 idler pulley part # 11927AL500-1420591-66405 from infinitipartsusa, I have checked and double checked the part against my VIN#, and so did infinitipartsusa supposedly, however, when I got the part, I was unable to install it, please see the below picture showing the difference between what I have got and what infinitipartsusa sent:

Can anyone please confirm what they got in their FX45's or shed any light on this? I appreciate all the help, the car has been parked since 2 weeks waiting for this and now it will continue being parked for god knows how much longer.

More info: This pulley is part of the auto-tensioner assembly. There other other differences between the two parts, my part has an external upset on the outer surface that comes in contact with the belt - but from one side only, while infinitipartsusa part is perfectly flat, which by the way feels like if it is a better quality than mine.

I am thinking either infintipartsusa sent the wrong part, or I have the wrong auto-tensioner assembly on my car that happened to fit.

Just realized you are located in Libya! Find a maching shop / local mechanical parts store and just replace the bearing. I is most likley press fit to the pully so they would have to press it out and press in the new one. Probably a lot cheeper than the OEM complete assy! You will need a "2RS" ball bearing meaning double sealed (both sides) but I dont know the dimentions of the bearing OD, that you can measure after pressing out the old bearing itself. There may also be a bearing p/n on the bearing itself! Good luck!

Thanks gofast, I done some measurements, it will be impossible to install a bearing with larger ID on the new part, because the OD of the hole is already smaller than my old part, I am thinking now to replace the bearing on my older part since it is the reason I ordered new one.

I have been checking aftermarket pulleys (gates ..etc), their fitment guide for 2004 FX45 suggests pulleys with an ID of 12mm!!, which is the same as the new one I got, which is strange ... so far..

Does anyone know if the FX35 and FX35 tensioners are the same? Are you the first owner? I'm wondering if by chance someone before you replaced it with another complete assembly because it "fit". Could be aftermarket. Hard to say without knowing the details.

Yes it could very well be the auto tensioner assembly being another car's. Tomorrow I am going to NISSAN dealer and check, it is likely for one of those V8's Titan or Armada.

I am not sure if FX35 has the same ones, I remember la_fx35 once saying the FX35 does not have auto tensioners.

I think they sent the wrong part. I replaced this on my FX and there were no issues with the new pulley. Took the old one off and put the new one on.

Ah, that's not for an FX35 for sure and the FX35 doesn't have the auto tensioner. I forgot to look at my FX45's auto tensioner pulley. I will look tomorrow.

Sorry, I did mean the old pulleys bearing! Thought that was implied as you need to send the new one back for credit!

Infinitipartsusa did the investigation, due to a glitch in their catalog they sent me the FX35's as they said, they offered either a refund or paying the difference and buy the higher assembly for the correct pulley, which is the pulley + nut/bolt/washer. They do not have the stand alone pulley as I ordered it.

Meanwhile, I took my old pulley to a bearing shop, and I got the exact bearing model by brand name and PN, NSK 6203 (doesn't happen everyday in Libya), I then took it to a machine shop, who had a hard time being careful replacing the old bearing due to the weak structure of the pulley, it is made of less than 3 mm steel sheet and it was not cast, so it was pending inwards when he was applying pressure, now that worked, but because of that the bearing was not 100% even with the seat surface, I could see the pulley slightly wobbling (I hope this is the correct word) after installing it and turning the engine on.

The squeaky noise is gone though, but I am definitely getting a new pulley. I am so uncomfortable with what I got.

While changing the bearing, I was on the mechanic back all the time, freaking out every time he applies pressure against the weak pulley, he said do you know how many times I did this? and then showed me this:

Yes you are right - however no way that I can send it back for a refund, it was cost more shipping it all the way, I will just buy a new pulley and keep the wrong one for a friend who might need it one day, otherwise it will be part of my collectables!

The way I am getting stuff from the US is costing me ~ 10$ per pound in shipping via Aramex shop&ship services, and it takes 10 days in average to get here, but this works only one way, to send anything to the US it will cost a lot more per pound! and hence not economic at all. So either I get the correct part the first time or I buy new one!.

Too bad the machine shop distorted the pully! They could have applied a little heat from a propane torch to the outside of the pulley before starting the press out! How much did you pay for the new bearing vs. the whole wrong assembly from Infiniti parts usa? Save the new bearing for the next time you have to fix the tensioner! I am guessing you dont have a Infiniti dealer close to your location?

So their glitch became your problem? That's not right, they should send you the right one for free. Lesson learned for them. Ya those pulling aren't strong enough to press out the bearing and I think they use some type of adhesive to keep them in. Been there done that, I just buy a new pully and call it a day.

There was going to be a further confusion, and I was about to be sent another wrong part, all this time infinitipartsusa was talking about the idler pulley - the serpentine belt stationary pulley, while I was talking about the auto tensioner pulley, I think it was not a glitch, it is a rather bigger flaw that reflected in in the drawings as well. I may have contributed to that by calling it idler pulley too but that was in the aftermath anyway. Finally, after having a clarity, the pulley I need can not be sold separately, the immediate higher assembly is the entire auto tensioner assembly for 94$, which is too much for just a bad bearing and low quality pulley.

After all of that, I decided to buy either ACDelco or Gates pulleys, they can not be lower quality than the OEM after what I have seen, and do not "wobble", they are 20$ each.

I should've done that, but now that is done, I feel if I try it again it will ruin the pulley, it took too much already. The bearing was only 3$, vs 94$ for what I would get from infinitipartsusa.

We do not have dealers specifically for infiniti in the entire country, there are shops which sell infiniti genuine OEM parts, but, they have only basic items in stock (filters, spark plugs, belts, bulbs ...etc), anything else they need to get it from Dubai, it takes 3 weeks after upfront full payment is made, and it comes very expensive. So it will be more expensive than me buying from infinitipartsusa. But with a good bearing job like you suggested it will only cost 3$.

They offered the following: if shipping them back is more expensive that the wrong parts, they will refund and I keep them.

Well looks like u got the problem solved.

I was going to say after I saw the first post. I knew it was a idler pulley from a vq35. I have two sitting on my toolbox. Bearings go bad, Nissan has a delete kit for it.
