Just wanted to make a simple guide to show you guys how to change our ugly yellow stock vanity lights. Definately worth the $12 + shipping I paid for these bulbs. I already changed all of the other interior lights in my FX, but have been neglecting the vanity lights as I never really use the vanity mirrors.

The bulbs in these mirrors are really small, so make sure you get the right ones. There are two different kelvin ratings (color) you can choose from:

6000K (Pure White with a tinge of blue)

or

5000K ( Pure white)

http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Vanity-LED/White-LED/HI-POWER-SMT-3-LED-HID-p7114848.html

Step 1:

I went 6000K to so that it would match the rest of my interior/exterior lights

Step 2:

Locate the little dip at the top of the mirror I circled in red. This is the area you can insert you interior removal tool or flat head screw driver. Before doing that though, you must protect the surrounding trim with something like painters tape as cause you WILL damage the trim around it prying/popping off the light cover

Step 3:

After taping up the surrounding trim and locating the dip in the top, insert you trim removal tool into the dip and pull it towards you. Don't pull too hard cause you might crack it or break the clips holding it. It will make a pop sound letting you know it's off

Step 4:

Use the same interior removal tool you used on the light cover to also remove the bulb from it's socket. Just wedge it in between and pop it out. The reason why is cause you don't want to touch the bulb directly. It's very hot since it's on and you could burn your hands on it. Trust me I learned the hard way lol

Step 5:

Finally your done!! Please see before and after photo's below. What a difference:tup:

I wasn't even sure if it was possible doing these. I did most of the interior except the doors and floor ones. I'll have to order some more up. It's crazy how many interior lights there are...16 right ...?

Looks good. But im not sure if i want to replace the vanity bulbs. The interior led bulbs i replaced are already bright on the eyes without looking straight at them. These ones will probably blur someone who choose to use the mirrors.

Yeah about 15-16.

Theres also LED mood lights behind each interior door handle inside the car. Very classy!

Not the best picture, but here's a night time shot:

Ofocoarse the camera makes it look brighter than what it really is. It's not blinding, but it does light up your face better than stock.

Haha oh yeah I forgot about them. Classy best describes it.

If you also count the coin holder and glovebox, we have a total of like 21 interior lights haha.

Do you know what the illuminated kick plates lumens is? I'm considering changing out my interior lights like you did, but I'd like to match with the illuminated kick plates. I'm thinking the kick plates are probably 5000k, but that is just a guess only because I don't really see any blue I don't think.

Our stock headlights are 5300k right? I want to have the fogs match the stock HIDs, so 5000k would probably match better than the 6000k for fogs right?

I know you like the tint of blue...I actually like the way the stock HIDs for exterior and illuminated kick plates are interior and would watch to match those colors for inside/out.

The illuminated kick plates look like 6000K to me. 5000K is pure white, but the kick plate lights are pure white with a slight tinge of blue to them. Maybe it's just me but that's what it looks like. Here's my OEM illuminated kick plates with 6000K door step lights:

And the headlight HID's are 4300K, not 5300K. The stock HID headlights are pure white with a tinge of yellow to them since their 4300K. I just wanted everything to match so I switched them to 6000K.

I'm not a fan of the blue tint (even though I know most of you guys are)....I checked out the door sills and i don't see the blue tinge in them....they definitely don't have any yellow, so maybe 5000 would be perfect to match? Even in your picture the door sill looks slightly more white while the 6000 looks like a tinge of blue. Since you already did this, you think I'll be close with a 5000 bulb to match the door sills? I think I will based on what I see, but would like your confirmed opinion too.

If you want to do 5000K LED bulbs instead, I can take some pictures for you of what 5000K LED bulbs look like lit up tomorrow? I have some laying around here somewhere.

I think the match would be slightly better  it will be interesting to see.
That would be cool if you could...Thanks!...You will be able to really tell especially if you change the one on the door like in the picture that way you can walk over the one side and see the difference between both sides and see what the kick plates most likely are. I'll be buying everything at once so buying 10 or some bulbs at a color that wouldn't look that good to me wouldn't be too fun hehe.

Yeah lol. The 5000K bulbs I have laying around I only have for the trunk though. So I wouldn't be able to show what they look like inside the door, but only what 5000K looks like inside of the trunk.
