Clear HID Lense

You may already have clear lenses, I have taken apart a few pairs of headlights and found that some of the lenses are clear and some are not. Here is a picture of the factory clear ones that came straight out of a set of fx headlights.

No, but you should be able to tell by looking at the side view of your projectors with a light.

I'll check it out when I get home. I have blacked out ones that I got from Deecarp and I dont know what year they came off of.

here is the best picture I could get of my headlights. If you look at the highlighted areas you can see how the lens looks kind of pitted (you have to look past my dirty headlight covers though:shy:) It is kind of weird because on my car one looks clear and the other is pitted)

On hidplanet, people are taking the FX's projectors and retrofitting them into their cars. The clear lenses OP is talking about does work to give more "flicker". That is the blueish purple aqua you see when looking off to the side of the car or when it is in the distance. It is unlike the 6000k-8000k, because it is still the 4300K bulb, the clear lense is used specifically with the stock Phillips 85122+ bulbs (we already have these). Also with the clear lenses, if you take off the clear lense and put an o-ring (sorry dont know the size) between the clear lense and the projector (or even the stock lense for that matter) it gives you that beautiful purple blue aqua cutoff a lot of people are after. It is moving the lense just a bit further away from the bulb giving it even more color...but it does not hinder the performance of on the ground lighting. Which is why almost all retrofits use the stock phillips bulbs and not 5000-12000K.

I'm debating ripping apart my extra set of FX headlights to retro the projectors into my Mazda 6. There's a guy doing all the brackets, o-rings, lenses, and waterproof strain reliefs on Mazda6club.com to put FX projectors into the Mazda 6. So if you want the o-ring, I can get ahold of him and find out the size for you?

Mazda 6 w/ FX projectors and tsx clear lense mod = alot more color

Mazda 6 with FX projector and stock lenses

Obviously there is a difference...beautiful color at cut-off with tsx clear lenses, like the OP wants. Both of these setups are with the stock phillips 85122+ bulb and FX projector. Only difference is the lense.

I have done the o-ring spacer technique on a set of blacked out fx lights I made and sold. I can't remember who I sold them to though. I need to look through my photobucket account.

this explains why some european cars have that really blue look when they are coming at you at a little bit of an incline. i like that look.

Yeah it is a sweet look, if you swap the lense on your projectors, you will have the same look. It gets a more intense color "flicker" when you do the o-ring mod. That is why the FX projectors have such a high demand right now. Because of the recall, they are readily available and have become pretty cheap. To buy the proj, bulbs, ballasts(most now are using aftermarket) is only costing about $200. The lenses have become available now for around $60.

All this gets you beautiful color, no loss of output(lumens), and great cutoff. The FX projector has become the projector to get over the TSX projector.

I'm building a set of lights right now & I'm going to try playing with the focus to see what kind of a cut-off I can get, might get one set of those from him to compare...

one thing I find very annoying with our headlights is that the cut off shield inside the projector is the same left & right, wouldn't be an issue if they were symmetrical side to side, but there not, they both step up midway from left to right, so the projection appears as a step up to the right, then another step up to the right. this is not right, it should step up to the outside of each respective light, so the left should step down to the right & the right should step down to the left, or vice versa even would be better than just both sides the same... don't make sense... it's like there 2 right sides or 2 left sides, but not like I would ideally want a left & a right to be.

right now there like this: )) or >> where they should be either : )( or <> or even () or ><... strange that they did the shields like this... I wonder if other manufactures do the same... very odd...

I always considered playing with tsx projectors, but up until now original tsx projectors that I have seen have always been at least $120 a pair, shit, I could buy a complete set of fx headlights for that...on top of that my lights would need 2 pairs. as cool as this mod is, it really doesn't have much impact with normal day to day use, not very noticeable to most really, never really thought the benefit was worth the cost. now, these reproductions though, if really as good as the real things might be a bit more worth it since there like 1/2 the price

I really think that the focus issue is more a result of the distance of the projector from the shield, not the bulb... that edge of the shield is probably more of what is being projected & focused really I think... a spacer may make good results, gonna play with focusing first with the OE projectors & see

turbo, not quite understanding your cutoff:
"right now there like this: )) or >> where they should be either : )( or <> or even () or ><... strange that they did the shields like this... I wonder if other manufactures do the same... very odd..."

All FX projectors cutoffs like this:
__/-- __/-- and the further you get from a wall they'll merge into one big step

you are going to have trouble lining all 4 of yours up.....your cutoff is going to interlap.

I've lined mine up & they look ok but they do overlap, the light output is crazy though, but why aren't they like this instead?:

__/-- --\__ or --\__ __/-- wouldn't that make more sense?

__/-- --\__ this will work....light going onto road

--\__ __/-- this is REALLY bad...this will blind people coming other direction. Most of your light is going to the sides of the car.
