Anyone Know if any of the claims made here are true and if this would be a good Mod to do?

Have you ever wondered why your car seems so much faster when it is cold outside? It is because your computer senses intake temperature through a special sensor in the intake which controls fuel mapping and Ignition timing. When it is hot outside, your fuel and timing change and your vehicle becomes sluggish.
The Chronic Power Chip, Once Installed, will tune your computers fuel and timing maps to the same mapping used when it is cold outside. This will result in an IMMEDIATE and Noticeable change in power and acceleration. Also, since your computer is essentially leaning out the fuel mixture (injecting less fuel), you should notice an increase in fuel economy almost immediately!
In Fact, This item gives so much power, it is often referred to as the Drag Racers Mod!
No more worrying about your vehicle loosing power as it sits in crawling or stopped traffic. When your vehicle sits idling, it creates its own heat and can increase your Intake Air Temperature, thus reducing your vehicles performance. Not so with the Chronic Power Chip. Now you can have that extra power to get to that opening in traffic, or pull away from that annoying tailgater.
This item does the same thing that more expensive Power Chips do. They come in fancier packaging, but function just the same. If you don't believe us, test ours head to head with the competition, and if we don't equal or beat their results, we will give you your money back. So if you just bought that expensive chip, try ours out, you still have time to send the other back!

Running lean is not a good thing......detonation is not good.

Depends on what they chip is designed to do -

But this thing makes the car run lean, which causes detonation, which is bad bad bad.

This is basically a resistor that you place on your IAT sensor fooling the computer into thinking your car is sucking in cooler air.

Search "IAT resistor" in google for more information.

Crap, you beat me to it Jeff.

I was shocked that the first response to this wasn't "it's a resistor" :4tongue:

It will usually come in a nifty little plastic box that looks somewhat professional, and will usually (99% of the time) have 2 or 4 wires coming from this box. Crack open the box and you'll find either a very well disguised resistor, or just a plain old ceramic-type resistor.

I actually tried the resistor mod on my old Jeep before we got the WRX. I took it off a few days later, I did not notice a difference at all.

Thanks for th heads up!

It sounded too good to be true to me too thats why I thought I would check with the experts.
I have to say this sight is a valuable resource for all things FX Thanks to all!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. My new 20" Rims should be here Friday. There is a link to them in the wheels forum under (18 or 20 that is the question):iS:

During cruising or idle, an ideal AFR (air-to-fuel ratio) would be 14.7:1 (approximately, depending on altitude). If you stomp on the gas pedal, you're putting the motor through high load and the ECU will dump in fuel (via signals to injectors) at a higher rate than the added mass of air and the AFR will drop to around 12:1 and then creep up from there to hopefully maintain somewhere in the low 13's for a naturally aspirated VQ.

When going forced induction, these numbers should instead drop into the 11's, maybe 10's and then creep up to maybe 11.5:1 or 12:1, but many tuners would consider 12:1 pretty lean when FI.

13:1 is mildly lean too for a naturally aspirated motor.

The more lean you go, the more power you'll squeeze out, but the closer you approach to 14.7:1, the higher your chances of detonation are.

today i went to a garage to install my MD IsoThermal Spacer .. i met a guy there and he told me that he has a modded Z, and he used the Apexi tool to tune it.
he said that it a great tool and i can use it to reflash my ECU

anyone know this tool(Apexi)?

I like them to. I am more partial to the '91 Turbo Supra in Graphite.. That was my dream car as a teenager..

'til this day. Everytime I happen to see one I ask the owner if it's for sale..

Your best bet to reflash your ECU without using a piggyback or TS is probably uprev osiris. I believe it's more expensive though.. Do a search on my350z.com and g35driver.com and you'll come up with a lot of info..
