on my first gen I have installed new rotors and pads, r1concepts and I'm experiencing squeal and grinding when coming to a dead stop, no vibration or warped rotors, could it be the pads? Ceramic r1concept

I can't speak for R1 pads. My previous StopTech ceramic pads does not squeal but didn't last me that long. I would say try Akebono ProAct Ultra Premium Ceramic brake pads. So far I am happy with its performance. BTW, OEM pads will always squeal regardless of it being old or new.[h=1][/h]

They're not OEM pads, they're a packaged r1concept deal with Eline rotors and r1concept ceramic

what pads? i have r1 drilled sloted with hawk pads. no squeal

It's both squeal but mostly grinding when almost to a complete stop.. My two guesses are hardware kit digging into rotors or shit pads

Can you see score marks on any of the rotors?

I'm gonna look tomorrow..

you either installed something incorrectly or you need wait a little longer for the pads to break in

I bedded them right since day one and it was fine up until recent.. Did them about a month ago.. I'm really thinking its the hardware kit prob digging in the rotor cuz it's a grind when coming to a stop or if its a light press on the brakes a squeal

What type of rotors do you have? Blank, drilled / slotted, slotted? How many miles on your rotors and pads?

I believe the R1 ceramic pads that you recieved are actually Centric Premium Ceramic pads. These pads are not really good. Lowest Centric pads I would go is the Posi-Quiet ceramic. The premium ceramic that I think you received are for "economy", not for daily driving. Meaning lower end.

Also, did you make sure you put synthetic grease on the pins, and brake lub on the back of the pads? Hopefully the grinding noise you are hearing is not a stuck caliper.

They could be the cheap pads, I mean It was a packaged deal under 200 for all pads n rotors.. Front n rear.. I did lube all pins, sliders and back of pads and also hardware tips where brake pads touch

I don't know, I really have to look cuz it seeks like it's toward the end of braking or if I press the brakes hard.. I really think it could be the hardware but I'm uncertain till I lpok

Did you grease the backsides of the pads? I grease anywhere the pads slide. This includes where the pads slides within the caliper.

yea, everywhere there's movement... good quality synthetic brake lube too..

try to re bed them one more time.. 4 times go 60mph brake hard till 40mph, then 2 time from 40mph to 10 mph; after all this let the car sit at least 15mins to cool off

im gonna re-inspect before i continue to re bed.. i've already tried multiple times and if something else is wrong i'm gonna be making it worst by re-bedding ..

also does anyone know which way the indicator on the pad has to go? towards the inner or outer?

I have always used Hi-Temp wheel bearing grease.

i don't think this is a lube issue.. i've always used hi-end synthetic brake lube and haven't had a problem.. as long as u lube the right areas then you're ok (sounded alot dirtier than i thought lol)
