I know alot of you have upsized to the 20" or bigger tires, but I didn't want to take that route unless I had to. I only had 35k on my Bridgestones oems, but I couldn't take them any longer. The noise, the bumps and handling really, well, sucked!! I needed an all weather tire for central Ohios mild to medium winters and this seemed to fit the bill.
I picked up some Toyo versado cuv 265/60 R18s 110V, from my local shop for $730 OTD. That is about the same price or less than I could have mail ordered them for.
Now I know I only have 250 miles on these, but this isn't my first rodeo. I have put new tires on 3 of my cars in the past 2 years. The first thing I had to do was let some air out as my shop had them at 36 to 37 PSI and my placard suggested 32 or 33.
First off, you can't hear these tires at all. It is amazing how much of the noise from the old ones I thought was coming from the FX. Now I feel like I need to get a louder, cooler exhaust on my FX.
Secondly, the handling seems amazing! No oversteer, drifting or bouncing around. I can take my hands off the wheel and it drives itself until the road either curves or banks.
Seeing we are going through a drought, I haven't had a chance to try wet handling.
Being my second day on these, I did notice a little softness first thing this morning, but that went away within a mile or so. Nothing like past tires I have owned, But I did barely notice it this morning.
So far I am pleasantly surprised with these. For the price I thought I was going to get a bargain tire with bargain handling, All the reviews I could find have been pretty stellar on these, so I am hoping the winter handling lives up to the hype. I will keep you posted as I put some more miles on these
Warranty= 50k tread wear, 500 mile 45 day buyback if unhappy(full refund including cost of mounting and balancing).
