What ya think about this CF interior dash kit?

I purchased a kit like this. They give you many more pieces than you will want to use so you will have a lot left over. The kits are quality but I believe vinyl wrap is a better choice, especially if you are a DIY kind of person.

I would say go with CF wrap to. Its gives a much better finish look then having an additional layer on top unless the kit REALLY bevel all the edges nicely :smile (2):

Doing the physical CF Wrap is the way to go. It will look more OEM instead of a kit that is taped on. You will still see parts of the OEM console under the overlays where the CF wrap will cover everything. I do like some of the finishes these kits offer though.

Like said before, if you really want the interior to look legit and nice, go with CF wrap, it will cost you less and look a lot better. Plus you will have a feeling of self accomplishment. :top: We all did it and like it so far, right boys?:)

Hahaha, listen to GetLuckiFX - King of CF wrap. I believe he has the most CF with style on his FX :wink (2):

+1! He wrapped his roof, engine cover and other parts of his dash. Lookin' forward to him wrapping his headlights and any other parts he can imagine! :top:
HaHa you guys are too much, I should call myself CFK LOL. Andrew you're in my head, I was actually thinking of doing that but I swear I think I need to stop with CF, I might be crossing the line, after I'm done with the grille. :mask:

I think any dash kit gives the interior a cheap look. And while I love the look of carbon fiber, I think wrap is rice since its actually ADDING weight (however slight) rather than shaving it.

i def agree since i had the cf wrap on my previous cars and it looked realy well. There is only a problem i have, taking apart the pieces and putting them together again. Is there a DIY for that somewhere in here?

I don't think there is an "official" CF wraps DIY. Taking the console panels off the car for wrapping is very straightforward. Here are a few pointers to take things apart for CF wrapping.

To remove the radio console panel:
1) Pry on the edge of the radio console panel to pull the panel off. Pressure clips hold the panel in place. Trim removal tools like these from Harbor Freight will comes in handy, http://www.harborfreight.com/5-piece-auto-trim-and-molding-tool-set-67021.html
2) Disconnect two wire connectors on the back of the panel and its free from car.

To remove the shifter console panel:
1) Apply the parking brake. Shift the car to Neutral as it is the easiest to work the panel off. Make sure you put on you parking brake when shifter in Neutral.
2) Slide the shifter boot down to expose a silver metal spring clip that holds the shifter knob in place. Simply pry with a small flat head screwdriver, slide the clip off and take the shifter knob off the shifter.
3) Pry from the back end near the armrest and work your way to the front to take the shifter console panel off. Again the panel is hold in place with pressure clips. Once it loses, lift it up and disconnect the seat heater, hazard light switch, and the shifter indicator light connections to free the console panel off the car.
4) Once the shifter panel off the car, undo four screws on the backside of the chrome shifter panel/boot hold it onto the console panel. Out the shifter back to Park if you like. Yes you still can shift the shifter without the shift knob in place.
5) Undo a few more screws to take the storage compartment out of the shifter panel. It is easiest to wrap each piece individually.

To remove door handle aluminum piece, just pry from the bottom of the piece and it should come right off the handle.

The wrapping:
1) A hair dryer, small sharp box cutter and scissors are basic tools when doing CF wrapping.
2) Cut out a piece of CF large enough to cover the piece.
3) Peel the backing off, lay it on the center of the piece and work your way outward and push out all air bubble as you go.
4) When it wrapping around the corners and edges, soften the CF with the hair dryer enough, wrap it in place and hold it a bit for it to from the shape as it cool down.

Reinstall:
The reinstall just the reverse of what removal :). Only special attention needed was the red/orange indicator in the chrome shifter panel. Just make sure the red/orange indicator is pointing to whichever gear position you left it (Neutral or Park). Slide red/orange indicator on the backside of the chrome shifter with your finger if it happens to miss-aligned.

Hope this helps.

This is great. Thanks a lot and very helpful. i will order some cf wrap and get on this.
You will catch on very soon. CF wrapping is so straight forward. It make such an impact to the interior with very little co$t. Make sure you line the console compartment cover and ashtray nicely now :smile (2):
