So I hit a milestone in my 2009 FX today. It hit the 30K mark:embarrassed:

No problems at all with the car! Car is bulletproof so far:tup:

Going in tomorrow morning for my 30K service:

Mobil 1 EP Synthetic Motor Oil Change
Tire Rotation
Front differential oil change with Nissan Hypoid Gear Oil 80W-90
Rear differential oil change with Nissan Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90
Transfer case oil change
4 wheel alignment

When you change the transfer case and front and rear differential oil, you must change both the drain and refill gaskets on the plugs. Never reuse them. I'm going to make sure to remind the service advisor about that in the morning. Changing these are required at 30K only if you tow or have the tow package, or drive on rough muddy roads.

Things I did myself (too easy):

Cabin filter changed
Engine air filters both changed
Lubed all locks and hinges

Congrats Fire

I only have 28,000 kms on mine, that equates to about 16,800 miles. I purchased mine in June 2009.
I changed my cabin filter and run Mobil 1 synthetic. My air filters looked fine when I checked them. I had the bottom oil sprayed for winter and I had the brakes serviced recently, basically cleaned up and caliper slides lubed, pads were good. I like to do this to the brakes each fall when I put on my winter wheels and tires. I also lubricate all weatherstripping with silicone prior to winter.

Let us know what the stealer charges for changing front and rear diffs and transfer case oils.

Thanks lol. It does kind of hurt to see it at 30K. Mine has a build date of March 2009. So ours were probably built almost around the same time lol.

Air filters should be good till 30K. Mine weren't too bad around your mileage either, but looks horrible at 30K. I have 30K on my brake pads and last time I was in for service the dealer told me their fine and still good. I may change those around 40-50K.

Engine coolant can wait till 60K as ours has Nissan Long Life Blue Antifreeze in our rides. It's actually rated up to 10 years/100,000 miles. Belts will also wait till 60K, but I may have the tension adjusted tomorrow too just for peace of mind.

I'll let you know how much the rear and front differential oil cost along with the transfer oil. I bet my ass it's atleast $200+.

you should get insured via my insurance company. they charge you based on the number of miles you drive. boy ooohh boy they will love to have you there. good thing your car's running perfect. keep it clean like you always do. and drive safely.

^ Thanks brotha:tup:

I just got off the phone with the dealer to bring it in tomorrow. They told me it cost $199.99 + tax for changing the front and rear differential, and transfer case oil all together. He also applies a 10% discount off my whole service. $23 for tire rotation and brake and multipoint inspection.

I hit 30k yesterday as well on my way back from San Francisco, Happy Birthday to us!

So I went in today for my 30K service. Everything went real smooth and fast. They completed all the stuff I was having done above in about 2 1/2 hours.

I spoke to a different service advisor about the so called "maintenance free" transmissions for our 7 speed auto's. He said they still change the transmission fluid regardless of it saying it's maintenance free. He said they do it everyday on G37's and FX35/50's. He said there is no dipstick because it's to prevent people from f***ing with the transmission fluid lmao. I could see why this is true so that Infiniti will make more money off of you so that you have to bring it in to them ONLY. Anyways they told me they have a special machine to fill it. He said they will also perform a flush and said that for the 7 speed it's harder to just do a basic drain/fill.

Is it recomendes to chande the differential and transfer case oil and why

Yes, changing the differential and transfer case oil every 30K is recommended for premium maintenance, but not required. Changing it at 60K is a must though. Changing it at 30K is only recommended if you drive on rough roads, or use your FX to do towing or carrying alot of cargo weight.

I don't do any towing at all. I do drive on rough roads and I got 65000 miles never did it should I get it done.

Definately bro. At 65K I'd also start looking into things like coolant and transmission flushing too.

Nice to know I'm not the only one, I'm at 31600 miles...

Went to pick up my car this morning. I had the transmission flushed and filled with Nissan Matic S synthetic tranny fluid. I heard it's a pain in the ass to do since you need to use the Consult III to makes sure the tranny is exactly at 40 degrees or something like that to properly change the fluid. Anyways transmission fluid needs to be done regardless of it saying it's maintenance free in the manual.

I also had the transmission update performed. WOOOWW transmission now feels soooo much smoother. No jerky downshifting in stop and go traffic, and no more low revving RPM. Before I would be coasting like at 30-40 MPH and the RPM was like at 1100 where it would be in this low gear and revving real low. Now when I'm coasting at 30-40 MPH it's at 1750-1900 like it should be. No more throttle lag either, and when I go up hills now, it downshifts properly and on time like it should be. Before I had the reflash done, it acted like it couldn't decide what gear to be in when downshifting to get up a hill. I love the transmission now!!

I'm also switching back to Nissan Ester oil on my next oil change in March.

I don't think it is but its all in preference. I asked a local Nissan dealer and its $13 a quart. I'll stick to Mobil 1 .. maybe next time I'll add in a quart of Lucas Oil synthetic and minus a quart of M1. Used to do that on my previous vehicles.

To me it doesn't make sense to pay more just for preference without any true details backing up why one is better than the other. Plus sometimes when we put in more expensive oil or more expensive something else, we naturally get a placebo affect thinking it is driving better. I always feel like my car feels better after I leave the dealership or a shop, but lots of it has to do with because you miss your car, you drove another crapier car in the meantime, you know what they did and you pay attention more how good your car is, etc.

I'd be interested if there is truly a difference taking the placebo effect out making it worth the money for more expensive oil like Ester?
