Hey guys,
Anyone want to play at the track?
Me and my crew are renting Big Willow on Thurs, Feb. 20th (THIS DATE CANCELLED). Very exclusive event, but I consider alot of you locals like family. Would love to ride with a couple more FX's, but you're welcome to join in car of your choice.
At this time, it look like we'll be doing a half day, but that should be enough time to get in 40+ laps if you dont take too many breaks.
This a great group to ride with, & there will be some great drivers & cars. Everyone out there respects the FX, & will give you a lot of room to roll. Jumbo will also be out there with me, but likely in the Miata.
This is a great chance to get familiar with your car & get to ride on the best track in SoCal.

It will defntly be affordable as we already have 10 guys on board. This is a no-profit event. We're just splitting the fees amongst the group.

Such an awesome track... Been there with professional race team for winter tests.... Wish I could take my FX there.... Have fun guys...

If I weren't all the way on the east coast, I'd be there. No question!

If anyone is thinking about it, never done it , but you're feeling hesitant, don't. No one expects you to drive like Sebastian Vettel and no one cares what you are diving, so don't worry about all that. Casual track days are THE best investment that an enthusiast can make in my opinion. Even if you aren't interested in competitive motorsport, you'll get so much more out of your modding dollars by getting some seat time before spending even a dime on exotic aftermarket parts.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me that I need to get a track day organized locally

Feel free to go 115, which is what I see on big straight, with no need to check your mirror. Worth if for that alone. Nobody texting either. It's all about the drive.

And stock brakes will do just fine. This is a high speed track with some banking and really big sweepers. Only a couple areas where you need to get on them. Tire wear is also pretty good if you have a good line and are not scrubbing it off

New date for those who had some interest.
We cancelled the last event on 2/20 because a couple of the guys had other things that day.
This time we're going with this other guy that organizes event a few times a year. Very well set up with again, a limited amount of cars.

April 3rd, Thursday, 2014 - Big Willow
Only $275, & that's for the whole day
$50 early registration discount expires next week on 3/13/14. Then regular price applies, $325.
New for this year, Drag Racing. Payout for 1st and 2nd places. Limited to the first 16 cars. $30 per car. Held at lunch hour. No start lights, just some guy in plaid pants and a skinny tie jumping up in the air giving you the indication that now is probably a good time to hit the gas. The rest of the day is the usual Track Day event. Instructors will be on hand, & are included in day fee.

Brakes are toast. I installed the porterfields and got a weird thump
Sound on each rotation. I has to reuse the used hawk pads I had with maybe 20% on them. Paper thin now, but the turned rotor held up. Getting bbk fronts sorted now. Next run is May 22

That Aston is my friends dad's car. 500 miles on odo at day break. He drove it nice and hard. 6 ltr 12, full carbon vanquish. 325 sticker. He's got balls. Awesome

Jumbo and I mixed it up a bunch on a 15 lap session. Miata is very nice

Thought it was Jumbo's, but looks like the other miata had molded in flares. Both look great. Nice vis as well Dave. Nice to see the FX hold its own on the track.

Track Day at Big Willow : 4/3 (new date) FULL DAY 9-5

We have two Miatas in the group. Brads supercharged, and the other is a monster Miata. 5 L supercharged and has fiberglass flaring. It's a 302, but the supercharger is going and he's going to do a bigger stroker motor n/a. I guess not enough power
