Well i have been going back and forth on choosing an exhaust system, I really want the Stillen exhaust, But after much reading a couple people have said if your not going to go FI, Then its not worth it...Plus i have the GTSPEC rear braces, So the Stillen doesn't fit with these braces Correct ?...

Then i started to look at the HKS which I really like the sound on this one, but my biggest thing is, Should i do a Catback or just the rear muffler,

I dont plan on going FI..I want it to be quite while im on the highway and just cruising around, And last does anyone know a site that might have the HKS on sale..

I have the Stillen and LOVE it. I do plan to go FI, but haven't yet and still enjoy all the benefits. I assume people say it's not worth it because of the price? Price didn't bother me so much. Maybe you can find a used one or wait for a special/sale from Stillen.

I have all the GTSpec braces except for one. This is the thread that shows the interference:

It sounds great when you jump on the throttle, but to me it sounds completely stock with normal driving. Good luck with your decision!

Or go with Invidia. People who have it giving it great comments.

I can't remember exactly; correct me if i am wrong. I believe for FI, stillen header is probably not good, probably the exhaust is still awesome.

Hey, HKS is well made and sounds awesome. Mine is a couple years old and is in great shape. :tonguey:

Jumbo- I have that rear brace, and honestly i dont want to lose it and i really dont wanna bend the exhaust to make it fit.. Also, I watched this YouTube- Deecarp's FX35 Stillen exhaust audio 2 and it sounds pretty loud to me, do you remember what you paid for it, I looked on stillens site and its like 1200.. but this exhaust it what i really want, im just worried its gonna be to loud for my taste..

Whitehair- I looked at it, But i didn't see any vids for the FX35, And im worried its gonna drone on the highway cause of it not having a resonator...

GTO- The nismo is nice and i do like it, I just dont wanna go threw getting the tips extended and what ever else comes with it, i dont know im still debating..

Jeff- i agree, i really like the sound of the HKS and i liked your vids.. this is prob running number 2 on my list..

Extending is a no-brainer really.
Dont get the Stillen though. In Chicago, it's gonna look like the rusted crap that it is after one season. Stillen quality is half ass on welds, & the materials they use are not what they say in their specs

I am still willing to trade for a "new or close to new" HKS mid-pipe and muffler for my NISMO catback. just get the HKS to me (shipped) and pay for shipping to you.

*HKS MUST BE in good shape.

anyways the Nismo is really nice, I just drive it less these days and wifey wants to tone it down a little.

He's in Chicago -- only reason I would say no to Stillen (okay except maybe the reason you pay over a grand and have to modify it still).

Seeing turbo's salt damage was scary if that's the correct term to use.

I would go with a one pipe exhaust as opposed to a dual. Having that passenger side midpipe opens up too many cans o' worms. Nismo is still my favorite, but my APS sounds almost exactly the same, so I'm not complaining. If a Nismo does come up one day, straight up bolt on, I might switch to it.

My car has been through a lot of salt in Chicago winters, still a champ when I get underneath to inspect it. You pay a lot for the HKS name, but I've always liked their quality.

Stillens are now made from Stainless steel, I think they switched over two years ago. Shouldn't have any rust problems - I haven't. The definition of stainless is rust free, so if anybody has, rusted Stainless - it ain't Stainless. I know GTO hates on the Stillen, from his experience. My experience has been completely different so far. Again, I think it's the best exhaust out there. Just an opinion. Yes, I paid around 1200, though I did wait for a special (15% off or something). You can install yourself. Not tough with the supplied instructions, especially if you have access to a lift. Would be a bit more of a pain using a jack/stands.

Inside the car the sound is more tame. If I want to hear it loud, I have to roll down all the windows and find an underpass. My wife smiles and shakes her head at me when I do that. Never once has anybody mentioned to me my car sounds loud, but that's because I drive normal speeds most of the time.

Deecarp's sound is a little different than mine - he probably has some different mods. I've heard headers make any exhaust more loud, but Stillen actually does NOT recommend their headers if you get the Stillen exhaust. Talk to their tech support.

I won't slam the other popular exhaust options out there. Never had any reason to. You could definitely do better than the Stillen on price, but I was impressed with the overall look and build quality. I don't blame you for not wanting to mod the exhaust or lose a brace. That right there might have sealed the deal for you.
