Which Would You Get: '12 Limited Edition FX35 or '09 FX50S?

I've been on the hunt for an FX50S for a couple of weeks without much success. A local dealer popped up with the killer blue 2012 limited edition of the FX35 with the turbine wheels for around $43K. It is used with low miles. I love the color and the wheels but I'm coming from a 451 HP AMG sedan and really wanted to FX50.

My other option is actually a certified 09 FX50S with a less than ideal color, 45,000 miles and a price about $7K lower. But I'd have to drive about 9 hours to get that one (the closest certified FX50 in my price range).

If I went with the turbined wheel FX35, I would probably recoup some cash by selling wheels for around $4K and getting GT-R rims for about half that. If I go the FX50 route, the rim swap doesn't net me any positive cash flow.

Thoughts?

What's the less than ideal color? Personally I'd go with the 50 and if you really hate the color you'll be saving enough money to have it wrapped and you'll have the power and virtually any color you want. Also, I don't know what those wheel are going for, but 4k sounds very optimistic to me.

FX50. You can always do things like add wheels, paint it, change the grille or whatever you want to do later. It's still cheaper than doing an engine swap. Personally, I'd keep waiting until you see the 50S in the color combo you want. It will show up eventually.

Thanks for the feedback guys. How much is a wrap and do they end up looking cheesy or will people not know it isn't from the factory in that color? How hard is it to remove when it is trade in time?

I say 50. Wrap is fairly easy to remove. Also 4k for turbine wheels is a bit much. Maybe $2k?

I have the limited edition and I love it but hands down I would get the FX50 without a question. If you get the FX50, you can sell the 21's easily for 2k and get some GTR wheels for about the same price.

50 and wrap like everyone else said ...the 21's aren't that bad if u paint them.

I'm at the other end. I love having a car be mine, I don't like to inherit other people's nicks, scratches, smells etc. The 50 is a dynamite performer, but the 35 offered enough zoom to keep me happy and I like warrantees.

Thanks for all of the input, fellas. I'm making plans to get the the 50 and GTR wheels. The wraps look interesting but I don't think it's my cup of tea. I saw an ebay auction for those turbine wheel close at $3,800 without tires. So I was figuring even if the prices had softened a bit, they still might fetch around $4K with tires.

Here is what my new rig should be looking like in a couple of weeks...

Damn. I'd worked out a straight trade on my car for the certified FX50S but another sales guy has a buyer on the lot in with the finance mgr buying it right as my salesmen was going to mark it sold. My FX deal just doesn't want to happen.

I agree, wait for the one you want, took me 3 months.

coming from a 451 HP AMG, you are being silly for even considering the question. For me it was FX50S or another brand car. If speed is something you like, you will kick yourself for it later on.
