Wheels and tires pix. Huge props to this site, for helping....

It's been quite a while, since I've been on this forum. I'd like to thank all those who bothered to contribute useful info, to some of my redundant, questions, due to me knowing virtually nothing, about wheel/tire fitment.

If any newbs or anyone else has any questions, feel free to ask. I learned a few things, through this whole experience. I thought i was going to go insane, at one point, over trying to learn what I needed to know, about wheel and tire fitment, on an fx35, before I ordered.

I initially went to a couple local shops, looking to have them fit my fx with wheels, until I had them all tell me they wouldn't order me wheels with tires mounted, in a width, wider than what their sorce, for fitment guidlines allowed. That's when I set out to learn more about it, and do come up with my own fitment. Hence me joining this site, and asking for info.

Here's the final result. No big deal to most on here, but it was to me. My biggest issue was getting fitted with wider tires, than was recommended. Now I wish I had gone wider, and next time I will, knowing what I know. ha.

Thanks so much to all who helped. This is a great place for fx info. Sorry it took me so long to come back and thank everyone. I've been crazy busy, the last few months.

My pix.

..... and yes, there's a correlation between the my camaro and my FX brake calipers. haha. plus I thought blue and silver go fairly well together. (my wife thinks I ruined it, with the blue calipers.) I think its fairly cool, but not so sure I'm sold on it myself.

I meant to post these, as well..

My fogs do not look as blue as they are in this photo, below. They look more like the top photo. Not sure why they showed so blue in the photo.

They are a set of four 20X10 EXE Konvex. +40 offset. (I initially considered staggering, but quickly got away from that, as I learned more)

I had to use a 5mm spacer in the front, due to the wheel hitting the brake caliper. No spacer's in the rear.

Tire's are Toyo Proxes ST 2 295 45 R20. (virtually no change in diameter, from the stock 18's) If I had to do it again, I'd go wider on the tires. If I'd have thought 315's would fit, I would have gone with it.

I changed the headlights from stock, to 6000K

Fogs I converted to HID and are also 6000K

Brake calipers were removed ground down and sanded, to a very smooth surface, and each paited with 4 coats of heat resistant paint. I was actually surprised at how well the calipers turned out. The finish is extremely shiny and smooth.

Very nice! Needs a a little lowering though to finish off the look.
And btw, don't let anyone tell you anything negative about the blue calipers, hahaha.

hey man, congrats on the wheels, nice camaro too, I have a 67 convertible in my shop right now that were doing a custom paintjob on, yours looks spectacular.

I remember you researching the wider fitments back then & really stressing over it. we talked about the 11" wheels with the 315's that I had just ordered at the time too. you wanted me to let you know how it worked out, just wanted to let you know that I got the wheels & they do indeed fit with no cutting, trimming or modifications necissary at all, even with lowered, bolted right up & go... the staggered fitment also turned out to work really well with the awd too, been driving it a while now,had her up high speeds & pushed her hard all over with no issues at all, they turned out nice...

glad you winded up with a set that you like too, looks great! nice big lips... looks agressive... see you even got the finish you wanted... cool, good luck with them :)

Hahaha. Did you have those blue back in late winter??? I defiantly remember studying your fx and asking you a bunch of questions, Doc. I do not remember the blue calipers. Maybe you did and I was just so focused on wheel fitment at the time, that I didn't notice? Anywho, it looks cool and it's growing on me. Without me even looking at your profile right now, I think I remember you having 305's on 22's. that's just from memory.

.......on the lowering Mr. California, (I think that's where you're from... going from memory again) my vehicle needs to be used as a daily driver and I'm not sure if you've ever been to the pothole capital of the united states.........Pennsylvania, but the roads and winters make lowering difficult. I'll have to put my stock 18's back on after summer/fall (yeah it's going to make me wanna puke seeing it stock looking again) and I'm not so sure lowing is practicle. In fact, now that you brought it up, maybe you will comment on this for me........ Would lowering be an issue, considering I use this fx every day, (except when I'm killin mustangs in the SS, as someone on here suggested..haha) and I can't have the tires spankin the insides of my fender wells, or am I over reacting, to the possible negative effects of lowering, Doc?

Does anyone on here have a lowered fx, and from the northeast??

There was a guy on here, trying to put 315's all the way around, but I forget who it was. It was about the time I was on here learning about mine. I'll have to look through my posting history and see if I can find who it was. I'm curious as to how everything worked out for him.

But you're right Doc, the lowering absolutely gives it a better, more refined look, I just don't know if it's practical, in my area.:k:

thanks

hahaha.. that's hularious!!!! Look at my comment to Doc2k just before this. I hadn't yet read your post, and replied to doc's. You're the guy I just asked about. lol. That was crazy when I hit the "submit reply" then scoll down and there's the guy I was just asking about, already posted. You could probably feel the stress, in my posts, back then. I need to see some pix of your ride. I'll do a search through your posts, I suppose. (I'm not very familar with getting around on here)

cool on the '67. I take it you paint? Thanks for the complements on my car. The paint on my mine, gets many complements. Personally, I like what I did to the motor, best. :tonguey: ..... the paint looks great, but doesn't seem to make it go any faster.

I'm glad to hear from you in general and glad everything worked out for you. Mod's can really be a bitch, if you don't have the right info, going in.
