VK56DE, would love to swap this engine...

I'm only half way there.

Stroking it to a 6.3 has been more or a challenge that I expected it to be.

Plus I am still trying to find an AWD Tiptronic tranny that can take more than 550WHP.

I thought you guys were looking for a Nissan tranny...? Could a non-atessa trans work if it was AWD?

EDIT:
The reason I ask is that the C5 Audi RS6 is AWD and has a tiptronic auto trans (ZF 5HP24) that will easily handle 550HP. I've seen claims of 750HP+...

trying to use a different tranny all together would be extremely hard & impractical...

this is the tranny I have my eye on :)

thinking of picking this one up, negotiating :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...item=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_9969wt_1072

6-700hp no problem

of course it doesn't exactly fit... that's where the mods come in :wink (2):

watch the way this car power slides through the donuts at around the 1:30 mark........ now just picture it being a little fatter, a little taller...... with 4 doors & an fx emblem on it's tail....... THAT is the dream, kinda like an elephant that can dance :pinky:

That's an awesome video! Hope you get it the tranny John! Your FX will be one ^%&*@$%^@ once that thing is mated up to the HR motor. It should be one EPIC thread to follow.

well either that tranny or another like it, really if I had my ultimate choice I'd hold out for an r34 6 speed... that's a getrag unit, same tranny internally as the turbo supra trannies, easily good for north of 1,000hp... but the r34 trannies are very hard to find & very expensive if you do.

the r32/r33 units are 5 speed & there pretty strong too, 6-700hp should be fine with one of these. can eventually upgrade to a straight cut gear set too for that 1,000hp ability too, even with this tranny, but I think I'd be happy enough in the 6-700 range really:tongue (2):

the r34 6 speed close ratio is the ultimate, but even these r32/33 trannies are ok & there easily available & relatively cheap...

Not that I will ever do this, but what is required to mate a GTR tranny to a FX45 (or FX35)? Just an adapter plate? I'm thinking much more but I really have no clue.

well there is nothing available for this, so it would have to be full custom...

there are 2 aspects to the project, first of course is the mechanical or actual mating of the 2... getting it to bolt up & everything physically connected... that will be tricky enough but should be doable with reasonable effort... best case I'm able to build my own adapter to have it bolt in with minimal tranny modification, worse case is I have to cut & weld the transmission housing itself...

the second part is the electronics... that can be more complicated than the actual mechanical part of the swap though cause of the awd, see something like viets was a little more straight forward because he's rwd, he probably had to use a ROM from a stick shift G/Z I would imagine, maybe even use one of there ecu's? but AWD is a different ball game all together, if you want to keep everything working it's going to def take some trick work computer wise...

this guy accepted my offer on that r32 unit, might have it in my hands by the weekend... not much is going to happen with it until I get the fx running in stage one though first, but I just gotta see what it's going to take mechanically I think... getting one in my hands is the first step:biggrin: I already have another spare motor that I just picked up to mock this up, a g37x motor, same bell housing pattern as the HR & the VK so good for this mock up, last thing I need is the tranny itself:nerd (2):
