Unmarked police cars

I was driving last night when an oncoming Nissan Maxima busted a U-turn. At first I was like what the he'll is this guy doing? Right after that a light bar (red and blue lights) behind his windshield went off as well as strobes on his headlights. I wasn't sure if this guy was a legit cop car but he sure sped off like he needed to be somewhere fast. So does law enforcement use vehicles other than the Fords, Chevys etc?

Oh damn, trip out. A Nissan Maxima cop car? Never seen that. One thing I am noticing and not liking is that they are starting to use the Dodge Chargers as cop cars now. Not cool because everyone and their mamas drive those cars so now you can't even tell if it's a cop car are not. They should just stick to the volture looking Caprices and Crown Vics.

Probably some kids fooling around. Should of got their plates and reported them... did the plates say "CA EXEMPT?"

lol of course they use other than domestic vehicles....half of them are impound vehicles. example of some in my area:

07 honda civic si WITH exhaust
older infiniti sedan with dark tints (the old i or m or whatever)
escalade black w/ black stock wheels and dark tints
an avenger as opposed to a charger - it had chrome wheels

and some others...

the civic is one of the ones the use to set people up for speeding i.e. theyll try to "race" you around a blind turn and there will be cops waiting for you, the civic will get away etc etc. crafty s.o.b.s

you have to be on the lookout at all times. i got an 89 in a 65 ticket in PA because an old tan towncar with chrome wheels and tints happened to be an unmarked and i just so happen to whiz by him while he seemed to be on the side of the road with his hazards on......so yeah. be careful!

I've seen marked and unmarked...

F150s
300s
civics
mustangs
corvettes
camaros
tahoes
suburbans
explorers
BMW E36 325is
chargers
crown vics
impalas
accords
camrys

Yeah, my older bro is a detective in Ventura County and he drives an Escalade.

they started using marked altimas in NYC. Funny cause if i ever get chased by one ill be tempted to outrun it

some of these cars are specialty devisions too...ie: gang and drug task force. I've been pulled over by them, most of the time the gang and drug task force will let you go with a warning.

Interesting... and I didn't catch the CA exempt plate. But since they are unconventional unmarked cars, they probably have normal plates too.

or, like the civic mentioned, street racing. The local Greenburg police near me has a street racing unit lol.

^^this is true. they have normal plates (the ones i've seen)

Holy hell, I'm glad you started this topic. Here (Santa Clara) they have the usual crown vic's in a poop-brown color, but they also have an F150 I saw one night pull a car over at an intersection. I flipped out because I never saw it coming. I'm legitimately scared now, because that's one unmarked vehicle you would probably never see coming at first. It had red and blue lights in the top, passenger side windshield.

I watch enough tv to not get pulled over by a maxima , I would call 911 first...just to make sure.

in chicago here, we have everything from a QX4 to a Lexus GS400 to a 1968 Camaro SS to a 1977 Ford POS van lol.

yeah, in ny anything & everything could be an unmarked car... I've seen 350z's even, ford vans, yellow cabs, can't rule ANYTHING out here...

I remember a few years ago, quite a few actually, there was a pretty big street racing bust on fountain ave, 5-6 cars impounded.. most got there cars back after spending $$$ with lawyers & taking a year or better, but there was this one mustang notchback with a sc that the owner never got back... the cops actually painted it blue/white & lettered it all up nypd, light bar & everything & just tooled around in that... & that wasn't the first time this as happened either. when it comes to dt's, they can drive anything & everything, from pimped out hummers to the biggest shitboxes you'd never suspect... if they impound it & you don't have the resources or right to get it back it's pretty much at there disposal, they vcan sell it at auction or keep it as an unmarked (or sometimes even a marked) official police vehicle...

years ago street racing was very common in nyc, we used to meet at the side of the hwy, stop traffic & race all wqe wanted too... when the cops showed up it was just everyone scatter & your on your own, was not such a big deal, but then they just got really hard taking cars & really locking down, now, you've got to have a real lot of balls & almost a disposable car to do it..

oh, & as far as altima hybrids, nypd has 18 marked & 22 unmarked added to there fleet the first year they started playing with them... altimas are the new crown vics?

here, the strobes in the headlights are the only indication

oh yes those chargers... gargh

what i hate most in staten island are those wanna-be's/imitations who run steelies on their impalas/chargers, limo tint their windows then pretend their cops. I had one tailgating me once and when i looked back i saw some teen in the front seat. showed the punk what a brake test can do (this was not done int he fx lol, was done in a sienna)
