Tune shops

Specialty Z in Chattsworth is one of the best - they need 6 weeks advanced notice to give you an appointment. That should tell you something about demand for their services...

Been completely happy with my tune from SpecialtyZ - both Haltech and UpRev Osiris.

I wish I could run Ecutek in my FX35. Way more control over the ECU than Uprev. But +1 for SpecialtyZ. Uprev didnt have the file for my ECU so they dumped my ROM sent to Uprev and I went home decided to change spark plugs. I had oil in my wells and found out my valve cover gasket was leaking. Replaced the gasket and now shes running much better. So glad they didnt have the file to tune that day LOL. Going back this weekend.

Wow, that sucks. So you only need to replace gasket to fix the "oil in spark plug well" on 2nd Gen? We have to replace the entire valve cover for 1st Gen.

My valve cover looked okay. I called my mechanic and he told me to just pull off the valve cover and replace the gasket. It was a pain in the ass to remove the gasket but I didn't need a new valve cover so I just reused it.

Hmmm, I would keep my eyes out on it again, because replacing the gasket that goes around the block and the cover is not the fix for oil in the spark plug well problem in my experience. The leak is actually at the seal between the valve cover spark plug hole and the metal tube of each spark plug. If the rectangular valve cover gasket leaks, you will see oil on the block around the valve cover area.

I had to replace all the gaskets on the valve cover. The issue was these gaskets right here... 3fc79c18ff0588fd5fbd7e126202c956.jpg
Only the drivers side middle spark plug well was leaking and when I had the cover off, that was the only one that had a crack in it and was stuck to the cover. Replaced all 3 and the long gasket around the cover(which was another PITA). I thought that the plug gaskets and the gasket around the whole cover was one piece but the VQs have them seperate. I guess I will wait until the other side has a leak and fix those too... I bought the gasket from the dealer and they came with all the spark plug well seals... guess they sell them together now

Whoa that is awesome that Infiniti decided to make the spark plug well/hole seal/gasket replaceable on the 2nd Gen.
The 1st Gen have to replace the entire valve cover and the only gasket was the rectangular one that goes between the block and valve cover.

Yup. The DE motors valve cover spark plug gaskets were basically not accessible. They were under a metal panel. (the first whole was drilled out to change the gasket which isnt recommended)228c9e1ca028d5b920873fbdf732b4f8.jpg
But the HR motor has the spark plug gaskets fully exposed to be replacable and makes life really easy...aaf3476f00dc11fe0e391b3945ad67d0.jpg

And on the 3.7 VHR motors its the easiest LOL2a6a1c4b489a8f30460fb71f949cd055.jpg
