Hello,

Just to let know the community I booked 2 days at the track (Calabogie Motorsport park) in June and August and I will race the runway (1/2 race on the airport tarmac in Smith Falls) in August 2015.

Earger to tyest the lowering springs at the track and to test the brake pads (went with Racingbrake XT970 front and 960 rear).

I also bought an action camera to install on the dash and prepare a track video and a 1/2 mile race video for our great community. So expect videos in June and AUgust!

Have a great summer!

Nice. Maybe get some summer tires prior to going to track. You know you want to :)
yes I know probably after the first track day. I am looking at the new hankook summer SUV tires. Looks like a version of the Michelin pilot sport 3....yummy!

That would be my guest. Just as Michelin has released it Latitude Sport replacement...Hankook are quite cheaper though. :good:

Allright, brakes and camera are ready to go, 6 days before I show the world my lack of driving skills ... or at least the need for improvement! lol

More seriously, the tires will need replacement after the track day as they have 6 mm left. So yes, to answer GTO, yes, I will have summer tires soon enough! :)

I'll keep you posted.

I would just get those tires now. It will be way more fun on track with good rubber.

Why waste a good potential track day just to kill off some worn, rock hard, all season tires? makes no sense to me

I hear you on that but it is more an issue to find proper summer tires for the FX. I requested a quote for Hankook Ventus RH06 from a local shop. I have a dilemna: going 275 45 20 on a 8.5 Wheel and try the latest Hankook SUV tire or go with a 265 50 20 in the RH06 which is a tried, tested and true tire for our FX.

Any opinion from our good fellow members?

Thanks!

Allright so the track day is done and gone. Soooo much fun! :good:

Calabogie installations are first class, the staff was courteous and very useful. You feel in a warm, welcoming and fun family. I actually met some of my clients there...pure random luck.

Mechanically, the Beast tracked strong, tires were good, engine and trans performed flawlessly all day (7 sessions lasting 30 minutes with 30 minutes break in between). I agree with GTO, the FX would benefit from Summer tires as I had too much brakes for the tires but it still perform great. No fade, none at any moment. So StopTech 600 brake fluid and Racingbrake XT970 front and 960 rear were a great combo.

In term of personal best, I managed to hit 175 km/h where I used to hit 160 (just before turn 5). It means around 105 mph instead of 95 mph thank to the brakes as I had a lot more confidence.

I also managed to have my test drive of a GTR so I really enjoyed that aspect as well. The person had modified it pretty much as I would have so I know I can build a great DD how of it. Looking forward to change car in July 2016.

I am working on the videos or pictures so it should be ready soon.

It was a phenomenal experience that I recommend to anybody. Our cars do a great job, not really competitive in a 20 turns track but strong nonetheless.

Have a great weekend, stay tuned for the updates.

Sorry to ask but is there a more convenient way to post pics and vids than to use the 2 icons in the quick reply box?

Photobucket with embedded link. I think the third link down in list. Vids should be YouTube
Sorry to bother you GTO but do you know what would be the best way to upload viedo on youtube? I am trying to upload a 25 mins viedo and the time to upload is around 200 minutes, what did I got wrong?

Thank you for any advice.

Not sure what limits there are. Just try it, and if not, you can always trim selections and save as individual smaller files
