Tonneau Cover: yay or nay?

I enjoy having mine for security and just keeping the look clean. The '04 cover has good improvements over the '03 cover.
The only con I can think of is that its blatantly in to way anytime you need to put something large in the trunk. It does break down VERY easily when needed - prob takes 15 seconds for me and the '03 has 2 pieces unlike the '04 1 piece.
I suggest going for it!

Its too big in my opinion. Even when it is closed up it is completely in the way. I have had mine sitting in my garage since I bought the car.

My '05 FX35 didn't have one when I bought it used so I ordered one and installed it. I got it because IMO it looks cleaner and I don't want people to be able to see what's in the hatch area. Other than spending money for one (hopefully your friend is selling it less than retail) I don't see any cons. If it gets in the way you can always remove it.

I really don't see any con's with the cover I always thought they looked good. I was upset that my fx didn't come with it, I really want one.

You could just get 5% tint on the back windows. THen nobody would be able to see in the back.

THats what I did.

I thought of that, but too hard to see out the back at night.

I had one on my QX4 and it was a love/hate relationship. It looks great closed, and hid anything in the rear area. Also made it look more like a "trunk".

But, anything that requires folding down the seats -- what a pain, the thing is big and gets in the way -- so I either layed it down or took it out and put it in my garage. Eventually, it just never went back on and sold it on ebay for over $100.

Will the cover off of an 05 fit an 08? Are they the same? I found one on CL and I can get it for 75.00 but its about an 1 1/2 hr drive to get it. He said he took it out and put it in the garage when he bought the car and when he traded the car he forgot to give it to the dealer. He says its like brand new and they way I look at it is if I don't like it I'm sure I can get my money back out of it. Thanks in advance!

Ocal21 are you talking to me? If so it's black, and i don't know if i need any additional parts or not. Like I said its 1 1/2 hr drive to find out. Do any of you know which part is in question and how much it cost?

I bought the 2 little plastic pieces that you need for the tonneau cover to sit securely in 06+ fx's, they are about $12 a piece at the dealership. If you want I can take a picture of the parts you need when I get home.

I used it as a sort of passive security feature. Most car break ins happens because thieves sees something interesting inside an unattended car. It could be anything from a portable toolbox kit, a compact jumpstarter, shopping bags or your mother-in-law's photo frame you removed from your bedroom the wife insists hanging. LOL

Instead of getting the cargo cover, the most cost effective way is getting the rear hatch tinted. In addition to adding privacy, it also should keep the car a little cooler during the summer and looks much nicer tinted. The cover is a nice piece, but it does get in the way sometimes. The aluminum bar across it sort of looks like a rear strut bar and matches the GTspec up front. :nerd (2):

It was meant for Drew855 but I guess I did it quote his comment.
