Has anyone heard from Globe regarding the group purchase for the 09+ stainless steel knobs? I was kind of looking forward to getting those.:hmpf:
 
It seems that deal and Globe fell between the cracks.
Concerning those knobs, they would be pretty easy to machine at a shop. If you want them bad enough, it would not cost much to get them turned down and polished at a Jobber shop. Wish I was still working, I could whip them up in no time.

I stay away from work now, but I could check with a friend that does run a small machine shop. I can drop in to see him next week and ask him if he could turn a few polished stainless knobs.
 
If this does work out, I wonder if anyone would be willing to submit their stainless steel knob from the last batch as a prototype of the exact measurements and all that the new ones should be created as....I know Aaron had a set of scratched ones, I wonder if he still has them or other volunteers...I'm sure that would speed up the process tremendously....by just going to the machine shop and saying...see this...make x amount of duplicates.
 
But let's not forget about us 1st gens....we need some love too, in the form of S.S. knobs

Exactly Jonas, There must be lots of jobbing shops around you. Heck I even know the owners of a tool and die shop near you.
 
I actually have an extra stainless steel knob here that GlobeCLK sent me because one of my knobs connector inside was a dud and would wobble and wouldn't stay on properly it wasn't because it was scratched. So he sent me a replacement and I put that one on and all was good :).

If anyone wants the knob that was a dud I have it. But I'm only sending it out to someone that wants to have more manufactured for the community on here.

I'd also like everyone to note that the knobs on the top are shorter than the ones on the bottom. Thats why when he sends you the set of four knobs, 2 knobs are short and 2 knobs are long.

When Globe mentioned he was having trouble sourcing to a dependable shop, I offered to run them on any variety of my lathes or CNC mills. Those are the type of thing to easily throw on an open machine any day. He said he had it covered. Anyway, it may be his design or idea that I wouldn't step on without his consent. Has anyone tried to contact him direct?
 
So I happen to see pictures of the inside of a new QX56 and saw that they are using the same design for their dash knobs as they are for their climate control seats (which looks to be identical to the FX climate control seat knobs), which got me thinking wondering if the new QX56 knobs would fit on the FX?

I've updated my climate control seat knobs and they are unbelievably better and one of the best mods I've done, so these knobs like in the Qx56 would take it over the top....it would be just plain rubber or plain stainless steel but instead a match that looks great. There is a chance future FXs would have these knobs too and then maybe they would fit out styles, although maybe they would have already done them on 2011/2012 if they fit from the Qx56....just pondering.

anyway, here is what I'm talking about. Any ideas if these knobs might fit our 2nd gen FXs? I wonder if anyone from a dealership or anybody would be able to check to see if they would fit?

Good catch Jonas. Those are the knobs I've been eyeing for a few weeks now. But I was looking at the 2011+ M knobs, but they are the same it seems. I've been meaning to stop at the dealer lately and try to test fit one for the 1G FXs, but haven't yet. Now the secret is out, I better get moving. :ninja:

Yeah I was pondering on just buying them and seeing myself and posting like a ninja....haha...but then figured eh I don't want to be out $$$ if I just buy the knobs and they don't work.

I actually have not done anything with my car knobs, so I'm not sure how to remove them correctly or anything yet. I know Aaron and Ian have the new knobs...maybe they already have pics for can provide detailed pics....heck, even better I would think Ian would be able to provide you the old rubber 2nd gen knobs to compare first hand before you head over to the dealer? That would be better than any pic.
 
Haha, ya I was going to find a mini-mod like this for 1G FX like a ninja, too. Well, I established good rapport with the service advisor over at the dealer over the last two years, so I was going to see if he can help me compare knobs. Even better is that they opened a brand new Infiniti centre less than 10 minutes from my house and he transferred over there. So I'll stop by this week sometime.

Ian, if you read this, if you're in the area on Friday, let's meet up. We also seem to spot each other on North Ave, lol.
