Sirius Update

Sirius just did a channel update last week and added some new channels. My radio appeared to update butting did not receive all the new channels. For instance, it skips from channel 54 to 56, right over the new 55. I refreshed my service a few times but it did not work. I called tech support and they tell me I need a module update to receive the new channels. Which makes no sense to me. They say it only holds so many channels or something. Is anyone else having this problem? They said to call the dealer to update the Sirius tuner. That means I need a whole new Sirius module?
 
I have the same problem...I cant get the new channels in my 06 with Sirius...not sure how to uodate this??

I have an 06, and channel 55 works. It's Utopia, but mine is xm, does your radio say Sirius on it?
I know now it's pretty much the same, but I guess there is a difference in the older devices.

We have the same model...I don't know why they would be different but mine is Sirius? Did you have to do anything or it just worked?
 
Where would it say Sirius or XM? I would have to take the cargo area apart to find out?

sirius recommended I call the Infinit dealer to have to module updated. I can only imagine what they would charge for that! They also said our 06 radio only holds 128 channels. I said well, can you reload it? I want 55 and 57, not 127, etc. the other odd thing is I DID get the new channel 03 Venus. Now why that one and not the others. I may call Sirius again and see if I can get someone else I tech support. The chick that helped me just read from her scripts over and over.
 
I called Sirius and they said I had a sirius radio and not an Xm....I also had them send a signal to refresh my radio and it didnt work...im still missing channel 55...which is the one I want. Very frustrating as I was on the phone for an hour. Please let me know if u get it fixed...as I will probably have to do the same thing.

Also...my radio does not say sirius or XM on it anywhere...I had to call to find out.

I just checked and I also got channel 03 Venus but not 55 or 57....seems weird that happened to both of us. Seems like Sirius' issue...not our radios. Will be calling them tmrw...please let me know u find out also.
 
i have Sirius on the label on the satellite radio... i knew there were new channels, but never bothered looking for them... I'll check and see if I have 55 or 57...

Please let me know if you do...also pls check if you have channel 03 as it seems to be the only one we got if you have a Sirius radio.
 
55 is the one I want too! And yes, I spent over and hour on the phone with them and that was after multiple refreshes that I initiated my self online. Then sat in the car and waited for something to happen but it never did. I even asked them to tuen the service off and back on and maybe it would reload from channel one and include those channels, instead of trying to load them from the "back end". The first time you turn the radio on after the send the update, you can tell it is loading and it take a little while before music comes on. Not during ANY refresh or them even turning it off then back on, did it ever look like the radio was loading anything! I wonder if anyone there knows what they re doing!?

Will be calling them again today and then will call my local Infiniti dealer to find out if the tuner really needs to be updated. Not sure how I can get channel 03
but I can't get the others. Also, it seems this is only on the Sirius radios and not the XMs...so might be their issue. Yes, when I asked them to send a refresh
signal...they said it went through but I did not see anything on my radio...I just sat on Channel 184 and nothing happened even when they said it was successful.
Really getting aggravated with them....I want that stupid channel already.

Ok just spoke with the dealer....there is no update to the tuner they can do and if they were to replace the module it would be the same module that I have
as the technology has changed since '06. What the guy at Infiniti said makes sense too...he said there is no updating of the existing tuner you would just get
a new one and they don't have a new one for my car. You would have to go aftermarket.

I've been doing some research and the reason I am getting one the new 03 Channel is because I think it is a Sirius channel, while 55 and 57 must be XM channels
which is why "Tomwetherald" above is getting it as he has an XM radio. So this is Sirius's issue. I keep calling them, but all they want to do is send signals
to my effin radio. I am going to try to call and talk to someone higher up the chain.
 
So theoretically, installing a XM module should allow you to get the new channel 55 but you'd lose the new Sirius channel 3? How annoying.
 
Exactly...not much of a merger if u ask me. Sirius said they are gonna call me back with a resolution. I asked that they give me the Internet radio upgrade for free so I can stream it from my phone. We'll see....stay tuned...no pun intended lol
 
Thanks for doing all the leg work wlvrn97! Listening thru the internet app is not really and option for me as I only have a certain amount of data and the only way my phone connects to the car radio is by FM transmitter. One of the things they totally missed on the car was an aux port!
 
Sorry to take so long on the reply. When I switch to satellite it says XM on my display. I can grab a pic of it, but I would guess yours would say Sirius on the same spot.

The issue may also be depending on if you signed up for a sirius plan vs an XM plan. Even though they are the same company now, I think there are some differences in the lineup, so if you have them switch you to an XM account it may work. I think I have a picture of the module that I took when I did my Ipod dock install which may be useful in comparison.

So the XM shows up either as part of the radio display, or if another view is up, it shows up on the bottom. so for those who this does not work, do you see Sirius, Satellite, or nothing at all?

Mine says SR where yours says XM above the channel number. I always thought it meant Satellite Radio. Nowhere on my display does it actually say the word 'Sirius'.
 
Channel 3 technically isn't a new channel. It was "hits1" and all they did was rename it to "Venus". How much are the modules from the dealer to switch over from Sirius to Xm? I want the utopia channel as well
