Hey guys
Dropped off my car for my Vortech Supercharger kit a few days ago at Hydra Performance

WOOOHOOOO !

Here is a list of the parts to be installed::wub:

Vortech V2 T-trim Supercharger
Greddy larger Intercooler (more than twice the size of the vortech’s)
850cc injectors
Stillen Valve Body Upgrade
Transgo Shift kit
Trans cooler
UPREV orsis tune
Walbro Fuel pump
Vortech Piping
Upgraded MAF sensor
Test Pipes
FX50s Front Brake kit
H&R 25mm rear spacers
Prosport Boost Gauge
Prosport Oil Temp Gauge
And some other parts that I am sure that I have forgotten of :PPP

Parts that im sure about installing yet:

>Stillen Ceramic Headers (I already own them, but not sure if they will help at all…)

>AEM water meth injection kit (although it’s a really good modd … its worth 700$ … plus I don’t think I need it since im going to be running on low boost …)

Wideband AIR to Fuel Ratio Gauge (is it really worth it? It’s a 400$ gauge so … yea :P)
I already own a prosport NARROW band air to fuel ratio gauge … but my mechanic said narrow bands are useless … that was a waste

I don’t want to go the cheap route … but I only want to purchase the products that I NEED … im kind of at thelimit of my budget … any suggestions?

Parts that I already have on my vehicle:

HKS legamax midpipe and rear section
Stillen standard pulley set
Stillen intake kit (supercharger will take its place)
H&R springs

The reason I went for vortech is that I love the sound it produces:tup: … no offense to stillen’s supercharger , but I really hate the “whine” that it makes :S …. +vortech can be used for future power goals once I decided to forge my engines internals

I will post as many pics as I can as the build progresses …. I saw the supercharger today and its HUGE :D … i really cant sleep this is going to be awesome … I have no idea of how the car is going to feel like … once the car is done im directly posting up a video of my car against my BMW x6 5.0 … I know I won’t beat it off the line but I hope my car will shine at higher speeds :P … fingers crossed

For now here are some of the parts that I have in my room at the moment … going to drop them off tmorow at the shop …. while I’m there I will take more pics

... hopefully the car will be done next week (my god time is soooooo slow!)

Here is a Gauge pillar pod that i will be using ... had it painted matte black

This is the Narrow Band A/F ratio Gauge .... kinda wish i didnt buy it:tdown:

Here is a Pic of my car hours before i sent it to Hydra Performance:wink (2):

Pic of the engine bay ... yea i know i will clean it:laugh:

A pic of my FX50s brake calipers ... having them painted dark blue:wub:

More news to come!:rofl::rofl::tup:

good luck man! looks sweet  maybe sell back some of the stuff that you said you "dont really need" and that way you can get stuff you only really want 100% on there, like that water meth kit you mentioned

Yea your right im trying to sell my headers at the moment ... but i have decided that im not going for the water meth kit at this stage of the build ... maybe once i forge the internals i will install it ... or hey maybe when i get more money :laugh:

my god man, how much did this all run you makes me drool because i have an 07 AWD also

Yea dude this is my first "real" modd and all ... i have looked at every bad scenario that might happen  ..... im causing my mechanic sooo much havoc ... im a the shop like everyday asking him qeustions:laugh::laugh:

Looks like im adding a wideband A/F ratio gauge to the car as well ... saw my car on the lift tday! ... the greddy intercooler was on and its HUGE !! sooo much bigger than the stock vortech intercooler :wink (2): .... 3 DAYS LEFT then i will post vids and pics!! ... tmorow im taking my Nikon Camera to take some pics of the build ;)

only 3 more days?? that was so fast. Cant wait to see this

hahaha thnks guys the build actually started on friday ... im leaving my house now to go and see the car and take some pics and stuff  ... I was told by my mechanic that he is going to raise the rev limiter by 250 rpm ... dunno if that will make such a big difference ... i hope it wont cause any issues with the engine ... OH yea i forgot ! ... i saw a 350z the same vortech kit as mine BUT he has a built engine with much higher boost ... he is only running an upgraded VB and a transgo shift kit ... he has been driving his car HARD everyday for a year now with no problems at all ... is our transmissions really that strong? i believe that since i have an AWD trans ... i am assuming that mine is stronger? its just a noob qeustion

Pics will be coming up tonight

As far as forced induction goes, the Vortech is very easy on the transmission, much more so than a turbo or Stillen SC. Hard launches and heat are what will kill an auto transmission. The Vortech isn't going to build that much boost off the line since you don't hit full boost until basically redline. It also doesn't build a tremendous amount of low end torque so you're not stressing the transmission as much. The torque will cause a transmission to fail, not the hp.

I had a Vortech setup on my old car (Stillen SC kit for Maxima) and even with the transmission totally stock, it held up to 8psi without issue for years. I upgraded the VB which helped with the shifts, but that was about it. I swapped that out for a custom turbo setup running 7psi and there was so much more torque on the low end that I noticed the 1-2 shift got much sloppier and there would be a flare up on the 2-3. Having said that, the car ran for years like this and the transmission never failed. At the time the car was putting out something like 310whp and 320 ft/lbs through a transmission that was designed for ~160 whp stock. So Nissan transmissions are tougher than a lot of people give them credit for. I was told mine would never survive and I actually had a spare.

But take this with a grain of salt as the FX is a heavy car and that in itself will put more stress on the transmission than a lighter 350Z.

Here a few pics of the car for now (much more to come) :

This is the car in Hydra performance ... Im adding 25mm spacer ince i HATE the look of my fx from the back ... the car looks messed up without spacer as you can see:mad:

Here is a Pic of my V1 Vortech T-trim supercharger ... its huge! its much bigger than the stock supercharger that comes with the kit... i love how vortech superchargers look very simalar to a turbo :P ...

Here is a pic of my car with the FX50s front brake kit .... wish i took a closer pic of the brakes (i will do that as soon as i can) ... i had them painted ... the infinti logo on the calipers had gone ... so i put "ap racing" instead ... looks amzing now:tup:

Thnks for the information dude!

... My mechanic told me the same thing today ... i guess that is why i wont really have that much of an increased 0-60 time off the line ... he said my car will shine at higher speeds mostly on high ways ... if my friends 600hp 350z's transmission can handle that much power ... i hope mine can handle that at low boost

....

Yea i think i need to make the pics larger when i upload them

Just got back from the garage today !!!! here are a few pics ... sorry for the bad quality ... i used my iphone:

Here is my car at Hydra performance:

Here is a pic of my larger Greddy intercooler ... i would much rather just drive withought my front bumper hahaha:laugh::laugh:

Here is a pic of my FX50s front brake kit ... painted blue ... the center part is just a temprary spacer just until my H&R's arrive tmorow

My vortech t-trim V1 supercharger ... apparently they have to cut a small piece of my frame for it to fit ... i only thought a larger YSI blower requires a cut frame ... again sorry for the bad pic quality ... im taking my D90 nikon next time:wink::rofl:

Cant wait until its done WOOHOOOOOOOOOO:tup:

Hey guys look i have a problem .... the frame needs to be cut inorder to fit the supercharger :( ... btw who else is running a vortech kit except me and chinke82?
