Sure, you can buy the ultraleggeras in black already at tire rack... but why take the easy way out? Plus I wanted to save 150 over the black version since the silvers were on sale, also these are fitted for a G with a 25et offset....way better than the offset they offer for the fx at a 40et.

G35 20" et25 Ultraleggera HLT Silver ($359)
FX35 20" et40 Ultraleggera HLT Black ($499)
Savings of $560 minus sandpaper and paint.

Before and after shot:
20x8.5 et25 Low Gloss Black with 275/40/20 Proxes STII

I am pretty happy with the way they turned out. Next up finish the last 2 rims and install my cut h&r's..

how did the finish come out on them? any wrinkles in the paint ?

I feel the finish came out pretty good since I painted it in my backyard with dust and bugs flying around. I actually have a few specs of dust under the paint but nothing major...No runs or wrinkles.

Here is a closeup shot of the rim with a visible dust spec under the paint.

wow, those look hot, dude, how many rims have you had in the last year?

Thanks, this is my 2nd set in 2008... First set will be for sale soon.

Awesome! I've thought about this a lot but my painting skills suck really..

Painting with cans is not so bad once you find a brand you are comfortable with and a technique. I get the best results from Duplicolor with the blue fan tip

But, I also would of preferred to just buy the Oz's in black already if they just offered them in the proper size and on sale :winky:

EDIT: it is called the EZ-Touch nozzle..

Dam Nice job Jeff, do you plan on a matt clear coat to protect them?

I might throw a couple coats of satin clear but am wondering if it is too late? I thought you have to put the clear on before an hour after the base.

I believe there's two windows of opportunity? Within an hour or so like you said and also after X number of days...? I could be wrong, but that's just what I remember when I was rattle-can painting this and that.

eh, I will leave them as is, I am sure they will be fine. If not I can always let my son sand them down and I will repaint them again (he does some good sanding........for cheap:wink:)

will you be running spacers to make up for the difference in offset? (15mm)

please post some pics once you get them on there. i'm diggin it so far.

No spacers, I'm thinking with the extra drop of the cut coils the et25 should be good enough. I am trying to stay away from spacers.
