Another easy one

what you will need:
-radar detector (not shown in picture)
-invisicord (length varies)
-Radar mount, i choose to go with Blendmount (optional, you can use the good old suction cup)

Y0z

Step 1:
-apply your infinitiscene.com decal on any window of your fx or else this mod won't work

Y17

Step 2:

-locate the power cord in the back of your rearview camera(look and feel like a big phone cord)
-there is two wire on the invisicord, black and yellow
-there is 3 wires on the rearview power cord, black gray and light red
-insert the black wire from the invisicord to to black wire in the rearview power, yellow wire from invisicord to the ligh red cord on the rearview ( recommend you unplug the rearview cord to do this)
-push it in gently yet assertively, you should feel a click not a crumpling sound if you did it properly
-should look like this when your done.

*from here on the steps are optional and could vary due to different application*

Step 3:
-Install mount on rearview mirror (this for me is the hardest part and the most time consuming)
-make sure the radar detector is LEVELED (very important for the proper functioning of detection)
-Plug the telephone cord end of the invisicord into the power slot in the radar detector

Step 4:
-tidy up the wiring in the back of your rearview
-zip tie the rearview power cord and invisicord to prevent damge
-zip tie it every more for the clean look
-fire your batmobile up make sure the detector turns on when ignition is at "ON"
-stare at creation, touch and feel your fx's soft leather, lick the steering wheel
-turn the car off, make sure the detector turns off with the car
-done, and no more ghetto powercord hanging down the windshield

http://www.proclipusa.com

its a two part mount, first car specific mount and than a device specific holder. they have holder for every device from gps to phones and have most major manufacture of phones and other device covered. its quite expensive but the best mount you can get and it looks OEM once installed. come with swivel or non swivel with or without charging.

mounting of the side moulding like that is only available for 2nd gen, first gen have to do a center console mount or an angled mounted. although if the side moulding is the same for both gen i don't see why it wouldn't work. best to go with what proclip suggest though it is a very very tight fit

:) it features one of our member's FX :)

threezero,

Thx, for invisicord installation. I also have the Escort 9500ix. Looking for something like this without so much involvement with radar detector and hidden cord. Gr8 Post.

I'm away from home for a while and want to order the invisi cord. I'm using suction cups for the time being. Can you tell me what length you are using. I would assume that 6" is long enough (insert joke here)...but don't want it to be too short.

Thanks for your input.

I also have the same setup with the 9500xi. I made the cord from a round telephone cord myself. Works great. Highly recommend the Blendmount. Love it.

i believe mine were 6" i would actually go for shorter if there was the option. If you go for blendmount they offer a bundle with the cord and their cord is exactly the right length.

however if you are a handyman and have all the require tools you can certainly make one from a phone cord like la_fx35 said. I didn't do it cause i don't have a soldering gun and i don't have a black phone cord :p

Here are some of the picture of my radar with invisicord setup.

I think it's too high. I dont think you'll get any protection w/ the rear facing sensor.

While not as pretty a mount, this is where I think it should be. ergonomically perfect for me 2.

Actually, everything work fine. Front and rear sensor are fine, even gps signal pick up fast for the 9500xi. Plus more in-car vandalism going on, because of gps and radar windows mount device. Placing high and away from would be thief help from expensive windows glass repair. The sun strip also help a bit from the radar stick out of the car windows. Being stealthy with your in-car gadget keep most thief away. I know, if someone really want it they will get it. You get enough attention from the car style itself

Thanks for the post and the discount code.

Ordered the Blendmount, Invisicord, and Passport 9500xi over the weekend and finished install within a half hour.

I was always reluctant to use RD on a daily basis with the not so sightly suction cups and power cord, but was really impressed with the really clean look you can achieve by using the Blendmount and Invisicord.

The inviscord was so short that I didn't even have to ziptie it and it looks really clean.

One off topic question.

Escort has a $80 trade-in offer for any radar detector. I have a Passport 8500 from like 8 years ago. Should I take the $80 that Escort is giving me or do you all think it's worth using even if it's not as good as the X50, 9500xi or any of the new products out there. Thanks for your advice.

Muting Device for the detector

Gto and others who have done this setup...could you please share some details and pics regarding how you were able to accommodate the muting device...

Most of the time I do ride within limits and the device is handy during those times...

If you are talking about the remote, I never installed it.. If you use a blendmount, the detector is easy to reach. If you want to use the remote, you would need to extend the cord.
