Problem with the doors closing at times

I have a 2010 FX35, Has anyone noticed that at times the passenger side door doesn't close properly at times? This happens multiple times during the week, when my wife closes the door, it doesn't close properly. She uses enough force to close it, but it doesn't close securely. I noticed this happen to the driver side door too... after re-opening and closing a couple of times, it will finally close properly.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to resolve it... it's just getting a bit annoying now.

I have the same problem on my 2011 fx35. I use the same force I always use on any avergage car and sometimes it still won't close. It has happen enough times that I found myself thinking WTH..lets put it that way. You are not crazy or alone my friend.

I also have the same issue on my 2011, it seem's to require extra force to close properly (strange for a car of this quality),and I also notice a pop from inside when the passenger door is opened (almost like it is closed to tight). I will be informing the dealer of this along with the other complaints (transmission, and pitiful windshield washer pump).

Has the weather been extremely cold for any of you? Like 15 degrees F or even colder with wind chills? I noticed this happened to me last week it was probably around 0-5 degrees and my door wouldn't close without slamming it shut. it only happened once, but still strange.

Never had this problem.

My doors make a pop noise when opening them that indicates that the door latches with a high quality feel. On my other cars the doors latch too easy and feel flimsy and cheap. You can tell a car is put together well by how the doors feel when opening and closing them. I don't know how to really explain it, but these are things I notice.

Could it be the pressure inside the FX? Aren't there vents built into the car to relieve the pressure inside when doors close? Just throwing stuff out there...

I agree to a certain extent. Like the new Tahoes, something about how it feels and sounds when it slams shut makes it feel cheap.

I thought it may be the pressure as well... like if two people close their doors at the same time... the air may push back on the other side... but I've seen this happen when I had closed my door and my wife then closed her's.

Your good though bro. The doors are fine. But remember since it's winter to remember to keeps the locks and hinges lubricated with white lithium soap based grease.

IMO, at least the first gen FX doors close like their a toy compared to a MBenz G Class... Those things sound like a high tech security bank vault locking

+1

I like the doors closing like that like their a vault or something where you have to pull it closed with some force, gives it a higher quality feel. When you open the doors on the 2nd gen FX, it's almost like it's vacuum sealed inside when it pops similar to a bank vault like you said.

both my doors close perfect and nice.

1. If you didn't buy it new without any miles, maybe it was in an accident. I know my previous car had that issue but know it was hit.
2. as aaron mentioned, lubrications, adjustments, etc. Do you do your oil changes or bring it to the dealer. I bring it in because they keep it adjusted and all parts lubricated that need to be all the time (not just when it's necessary). For the cheap oil change they do multi point inspections, etc. I think it's a no brainer for me to go for just $30 that includes all that. Last time I went in, they put in a brand new OEM infiniti battery...just because it wasn't 100% keeping charge...even though the battery was perfect as far as i could tell never had issues.

I stopped by the dealership today....there was a 2011 FX50 sitting inside. Just curious so I was taking a peak, closed the door started walking away and it didn't shut....I was like what? Then opened and closed harder, still not shut, then again, then again not completely closed, then harder and it closed....I was like WOWoooWOW thank god mine doesn't do that. That was a brand new 2011 FX50, I'd be pissed as hell if brand new ones didn't close like mine does.

I can push my car door with one finger and the door will shut. So the 2011 that I just saw today was totally abnormal for me, but I guess there is some stock of FXs where the doors from factory are not right and because of that I bet dealers can't do anything about it. I'm not sure if this was an issue with 2010 too but 2011 I just saw it first hand 3 hours ago. If I didn't know it was new with no miles, and someone was selling it, I would have thought 100% the car was in an accident. Or doors after 10+ years will dangle down from the weight of the door, but not new like this...this is quality control issue in my opinion with 2011 and possibly with 2010 model FXs seems like.

a lot of times it's suggested when buying a used car that you open and close all the doors to see if they open and shut properly or they hang down when open and such so as to make sure the vehicle doesn't have a hidden history of a wreck. to have this happen on a new car seems more like an improper alignment of the door. however, this issue seems so random that Infiniti might not take responsibility for it.

Yours has 30K+ miles on it and it's two years old. Maybe your hinges are just worn in a little more since that car you looked at is brand new. A few months ago I looked at an FX35 in the showroom when I went in for service and the doors were hard to close.

I have 2010 with the same issue. The dealer replaced the latches which did not fix the issue. It could be a pressure issue but I doubt it. It does not happen often. It does it during the winter and summer. May be worst in the summer.

I think it is a latch issue and I am glad to hear others bring up the issue. This occurs with a window down or cracked. It also takes a good amount of pressure to close the door when it does happens. You can not softly close the door.

And BTW, just because you purchase a new car, with few miles on it, does not mean it has not been in a accident. One of the DC dealers had a car that was in the body shop from a wreck, that they were selling as new. As long as it has not been titled, it is a new vehicle. I am not sure on the laws that say they have to disclose it as new.

I had a dealer try to sell me a brand new 1998 Pathfinder in November of 2000. The story was someone forgot about it. Since it was never titled, it was considered brand new.
