Pre-Bose Amp Wire Colors

I have done my best to find out what wires correspond to what speakers on the 14 speaker Bose amp. I want to use the signal before it goes through the Bose amp so it is a "clean" signal.

Has anyone done this? How have you added amps to your M and where did you make the connections? Are the wire colors different for an M that has the Mobile Entertainment System??:beat-up:

you don't have a choice with the OEM system. the processor is required because the bose system decreases the signal to the sub to protect it as you crank up the volume. i've been battling this for a few months now; looking for resolution. the MTX is the best budget optionand simplest to install. audiocontrol and soundstream and jl all have options, but their additional functions are not required.

What my concern with the MTX, is that it only adds the volume back in for the bass only. It doesn't do anything with the "EQs" and crossovers that Bose has (I want to control this). I am going to replace the door speakers and hook an amp up to them too.

What do ya think??

MTX is good at what it does, it allows you to add amps to oem stereo without going overboard.

I read lots of problems with the JL cleansweep, some even say it adds extra unwanted noise. It works for some and doesn't for others.

I have read that the audison bit 10 is great but at a price.

On another note, what controlls the EQ & crossovers on the Bose? is it the radio? or is it the amps?

If the anwser is the amps than you don't need a processor, just take out the Bose amps.

If it's the Bose radio than you will need a processor.

you need to do your homework and I would start by going to high-end stereo stores that do these kind of installs all the time. You may even have a chance to hear a car that has a processor and set-up close to what your looking for.

good luck with your install and let us know what you find out.

The amp controls MANY functions in the car. I was able to find what wire were the "audio in" wires (except for the DVD palyer, it has its own wires). The amp also controls the volume (really), fader, balance, voice commands, Audio-pilot, and even more than I don't know about.

I want to leave my 5.1 intact so I am going to have to use an OEM processor that allows the function of the stock volume knob. Because, if you use something like the CleanSweep, you have to (it is recommened) to use thier volume knob. And you must leave the volume of the stock unit at 3/4 volume, leaving any speaker that you do not have hooked up to the CleanSweep blaring at 3/4 volume.

So now I am in the process of finding a processor for under $325. Any recommendations?

Sorry but I have been out of the stereo game for a while now and I don't want to give you false info. Thus the reason I suggested that you visit some high-end shops that deal with this all the time. I'm sure they would be able to help and guide you in the best direction.

My plans are to replace only the bose woofer with a new 10" or 12" woofer in the same location, I would like to add an MTX re-q with a mono Audison amp that has a remote bass adjuster. I already upgraded my front tweeters to Infinity.

same here. thinking free air 10" shallow mount with an amp, or just my self powered RF box. either way, the factory stereo works just fine 90% of the time.

for the OP, if you are going to replace EVERYTHING, then search online for a guy with a green 2004 M45. he yanked it all out and built a ton of custom stuff. i'll see if i can find the link.

I really don't want a box in the trunk, i would like to keep all my space and everything looking oem.

I feel that the oem woofer does nothing at all, the front speakers are doing all the work.

I made a fiberglass box that fits in the corner behind driver's side tail lights. We you able to find out the link to the green M45 guy? I would like to find out the speaker sizes for my front and back doors. Thanks for any help.

for the OP or me? hahahaha.

i've decided upon an AudioControl LC2i along with my Rockford Fosgate self contained 12" Punch box. sleek and black and not large. even has a plug so trunk is fully usable.
