Has anyone tried the prestigious society nav bypass? I have used their kits on my Lexus stuff before and I just saw on their website they now have them for infiniti. On my Lexus kits they gave very detailed install instructions even on how to remove dash parts and everything. I sent them an email and asked if they have the same type info for the FXs and they said yes. I just wanted to see if anyone else had tried the kit for the FX.

This item is plug and play, you have to get to the actual NAVI unit and unplug all fo the harnesses to install their bybass module....then have to run a switch somewhere as well.
Theirs is nice because it goes back to NAVI mode after 5 minutes (AKA back to regular NAVI mode blocking input while moving)

This is what they send you, including instructions.

Shouldn't be a hard install, just get a trim piece removal kit so you don't scratch everything up.. >$10 on eBay.

In my Lexus GS I bought a blank OEM switch cover and took their little botton pod apart and made my own really OEM looking Nav bypass switch.

Why would you buy something expensive when you can cut, ground some wires and install a switch for $2? It's not like these "mods" will be irreversible..

Cost me $60 at my local audio shop to do the navi input, camera, and DVD while u drive mod...the only problem is they gave me a ugly $2 switch. My $42 dollar factory AFS switch shld be home by this wknd.

It just pains me to cut wires in a brand new $50k plus vehicle. I agree though if you don't mind it then you can save a ton. I also always worry if there is a warranty issue and they see the alteration. In my Lexus if I'm taking it in for anything even close to where I think they may see the mod I just pull the whole thing out (which takes about 15mins). Just goes to show how paranoid I am.

It's just a couple of wires and a switch.... They arent going to void anything over it (from experience)

I offer a kit that is I think more reasonably priced (almost half the cost) and has other benefits too

My intention was to offer a plug and play solution for those not willing to cut wires at a price that was reasonable enough that even those who may be willing to cut and splice wires perhaps wouldn't want to or feel the need to. I'm very comfortable cutting, splicing and soldering but wanted to create a solution that could be removed without a sign that it was ever there and offer some additional benefits:

  • Firstly most people buying the kits install themselves rather than have a shop install, so while it may cost more they wont be paying a shop.
  • It also offers the rear camera while driving functionality
  • Using a remote so it doesn't require the mounting of some cheap toggle switch
  • The remote can be paired with the Homelink buttons on the mirror and they can be used instead of the remote

wish i had of know about this befor i bought the other on. the homelink buttons would be awsome. but looks like you got nothign for my 09 FX50.

The 2009/10 Murano kit would work in the 2009 FXs but that would only be the two bypasses (NAV and DVD). From my experience with 2009/10 Murano's the rear camera while driving would need overriding in two places (the Nav unit and the the camera module) and looking at the wiring diagrams there is a good chance the 2009 FX would be the same.

If there are any 2009 FX owners in the Princeton area of NJ (or will to travel to me) I could look to see what it would take to make the rear camera bypass work also.

I have a FX09 looking for the bypass. I am located in North Jersey. Please let me know. Thanks

I bought the same kit from Brian and took me 15 mins to install in my 09 FX35 with no guessing or worry of screwing up my car
it works very well, I have no problem program it to my 2 buttons on my homelink
already took a lot of road trip without bringing the remote with me
worth every single penny I spent on it
Thanks Brian
The following kit does work on the 2009 FX and we have sold a few to 2009 FX owners

If you are willing to drive to Princeton area of NJ I would install for you and see if we can get the rear camera override working as well.

Email me for a faster response Brian at CarKitCompany . com

with the prestigous society nav bypass, where are people mounting the switch and how does it look? I don't quite get why you need the switch in the first place. I mean once you bypass the system, why would you need to switch back to regular mode where everythings locked again?

I mounted it inside the console so you don't see it. The actual switch i have by the cup holders and you need it because when you turn it on it cuts your gps and obviously you need gps if you want your nav to work.

Regardless of the brand of bypass you wouldn't want to bypass the speed sensor permanently and hence the need for a switch. More details here
