? Were there 3 colors available for the original 20" FX 35 wheels? I just had one replaced at dealer because of damage done at dealer. It doesn't match, they said it has to because there are only 2 colors for it. Last week they ordered one and it was a smoky/yellowish color. The one they put on today is bluish silver. The wheels on my car are SILVER (not chrome. I have seen color names: Champagne- (beige), Gunmetal- (blue?) and Hypersilver which seems right to match my color, I think they put "Gunmetal" on and are telling me it just looks darker because it's new. Any idea what's up with this?
 
I think there was only two choices: the Champagne ones that mainly came on the early '03s I think. I've only seen those colors on '03s. And the rest of them there silver/hyper silver. I'm not aware of any gunmetal ones. The new ones you got probably look different due to fade and wear and tear on the finish since your old wheels are on an '05.
 
I've only ever seen two options that I would call brushed aluminum (like mine) and chrome (like Jumbosrule). Neither seem to have a yellow or blue tint... Are you sure it isn't a protective plastic wrap for transit?

Yeah, the early years featured the 20's in a yellowish champagne shade and then they switched to the darker hyper/gunmetal silver. I want to say the change happened in 05 but I am not 100% sure.
 
Yeah, I doubt my car ever had Champagne, not that it matters. Before I bought the car the dealer had taken in an FX with (very hideous) aftermarket wheels. The buyer hated them so the dealer took the original wheels off "my car" to replace the ugly wheels in order to sell the car to the buyer and they stuck the ugly ones on my car. I didn't want them on my car either so the dealer took another set from another car to put on mine in order to sell the car to me. These are bright silver, the color (paint) matches the roof rails. So question is: Is Hypersilver the same paint as Gunmetal? that looks bluish when new then "fades" to lighter bright silver? Or are there actually TWO silver paint colors (Hypersilver and Gunmetal) or is there ONE paint color with TWO NAMES? Because now I have 3 bright silver rims and one blue one!

i would say them two are different. it shouldn't be hard to point out the obvious difference to the stealership. just get on their nerve about it coz you're right. they have to fix this for you.
 
Went back to the dealer today. They agree that the color is different but they say that they only had 2 choices, 2 part #s for the 20s in that style and the part #s don't reference a color name for them. So the first # they ordered was the "smokey yellowish silver" that was way off and the second # is "this one" which is bluish silver. They say the part # doesn't match my wheels because it was superceded and going by the VIN# is useless since the dealer I bought the car from had swapped the rims and they went out of business so this dealer I'm at now doesn't know what to do so I have to call Infiniti about it. Should not be so damn difficult to get the right color :confused.:!
 
Sounds like the dealer is doing their best without having to eat the cost of three new rims when it wasn't their doing. My guess is that they are waiting for the okay to be given by Nissan of America to go ahead and replace the others and then be reimbursed by corporate.

I would give HQ a call and push the dealer to escalate the claim on their end too.
 
Useless, yes, here's a pic. Infiniti wants to paint the 3 old rims to match the new blue one, sounds like a mess waiting to happen. They said they would go for a used matching rim if I can find the "old" silver color, they say it is not made anymore. Anyone have any spares of the silver 20's? The back one in the pic is the blue one (color difference is more obvious in person but they really do not match).

Under posting rules, it says "you may not post attachments", why not?
