Hate to say but i have an oil leak comming from the rear of the engine. Somewhere under the throttle body area. I took down the splashguard underneath. The sway bar is wett and the a/c compressor is wett. I removed the intake and can't see where it is comming from. Whereever it is, it is near the headers. As soon as is leaks it's burning up and it smells inside the fx when i put the air on. Any others had or have this issue. I only have 43,xxx miles on the fx. Frustrating. >=\. I guess things happen. What can i do.

Just changed the oil. Before i changed the oil, it was dirty oil you would see on the undersplash pan. I changed the oil myself. Now you see the fresh oil just put in on the undersplash guard.

Your still under powertrain warramty...get it in to a dealer and let them worry about it while your out cruising in a G37.

I have a large amount of oil coming from back side of the engine, splash guard has a puddle of motor oil. Havent been able to confirm the problem but mechanic mentioned it could be the rear main oil seal. If thats the case the Transmission needs to be taken OUT!!! Anyone know if this is likely the case. I was missing a qtr of oil when i checked

It's not the oil ring? Mine was leaking from there going to get it replaced in next oil change so in meantime I'm just keeping an eye on it
and John, you do still have warranty def take it to stealership! And Get a loaner! Ftw!

Have a funny feeling this has something to do with the knocking/rattling noise. Off to the dealership i go. Am i still under powertrain warranty? 07 with 66500 miles.

I just got this done, I also got my tranny fluid all replaced and they opened up the tranny and installed new filter as well since they had it down.

Wow LEX, this is the first that I have heard that the filter need to be replaced. When I install the Transgo Shift kit on both of my 03 FX35 and FX45, the filter was clean. I also did two other shift kit on an 05 and 07, no sign of any debris trapped on the filter screen.

I thought, you can't even buy just the filter by itself as it comes with the valve body. Any chance you have the part number for the filter?

Until you fix the problem top off your oil often, in my case engine start knocking then piston rings broke because oil was so low, before I realize it then its too late.

Just some basic tips that could be the cause of your problem:

1) Overfilling of transmission oil, brake fluid and PS fluid can result in oil flood because of expansion due to temperature and circulation pressure, people usually tend to do this thinking it is always better to be on the "safe side". Just stick to the designated mark and take into account "hot" and "cold" as applicable. All car manufacturers without exceptions state that overfilling is as bad as under filling. So check if this is your case.

2) If you recently changed your brake pads, brake fluid can flood when squeezing back the brake piston to install the new pads.

3) If you do not use a proper funnel when filling any oil, oil can spill around the engine and accumulate in pockets, that will keep burning and further spilling till it drys off.

All of this can cause oil spill around the engine that can go unnoticed till you see small lakes under the car or smell a burning oil.

I suggest that to clean off all contaminated areas, and then observe the leak again after couple of days, this will give you a better idea on the source of the leak.

I know this is basic and does not seem to help much, but usually big problems are caused by basic things.

I'm still having this leak even after they replaced the gasket (by rear engine main seal) the mechanic can't figure out why it's still leaking but he thinks its leaking from the side of the pan. Idk what to do or go now, I wish there was a shop I know in NYC that has done this type of work on an infiniti besides stealership
