Found these OEM fog lights for a Nissan Altima that fit our FX, bolt up. They have projectors and halos, so need an additional power and ground beyond the OEM wiring.

So I went to install them and discovered the need to remove the bumper just to get the OEM fogs out. They were both busted up from road debris - the glass broken on both. Taking the bumper off for the first time with no directions - just by feel - was tough.

The whole mod took about 75 bucks. Pretty cheap for the end look. But the labor was a full day.

I have been looking to control the lights with a new relay - so the DTRLs and Fog projectors are permanently linked together, and go off together when the headlights are turned on (permanently linked with the fog halos). For now, I'm happy with what I've got, which is a non-OEM look. I'll look into relays and wiring for the exact control I had envisioned.

The only negative to this mod is when a bulb goes out - gotta pull the bumper to replace the bulbs. The OEM FX fog bulb can be removed without taking off the whole bumper.

Nice write up. But just for some additional information.

I did this over a year ago and winded up going back to oem fog lights which I picked up on ebay. These projector lights do not give out nearly as much light as the oem with HID lights. Even after I installed a HID kit into these projectors the light out put was really too low. Also, the LED halo lights were REALLY too dim even for just looks. In the end because the rear of these lights are open to the elements you will end up getting water in the lights and ruining them. If you want to have them last then I suggest sealing up the rear. Here are a few pictures;

Thanks for the heads-up!

How did you wire the second power lead? I spliced off the DTRLs, which are the same color temperature as the projectors, while the halo color is the same as the headlights. You are right about the brightness - the fogs are dimmer than the headlight assy. But the color matches the OEM headlights, since I have not done any HID bulbs, anywhere. Since the fogs are pretty much for looks anyway, I'm not worried about the light output, just the color.

As for getting moisture inside - I've been through a few rains and a few washes and so far so good - no moisture inside. I was getting moisture inside my OEM fogs, so at the worst, I'm no better off than I was before. At best, it still looks good and will continue to stay moisture free. If it bothers me after a while, I'll probably switch back like you did.

I like the blue tint to both fog and headlight assemblies from your photos - looks great with your color.

Yes, I did the same as you and used the DTRL leads for the LED part of the fogs. So they came on whenever the DTRL's were on as well my old angel eyes. I have 6k HID on my headlights and had them on old halo fogs as well at the time and they were a perfect match since I used the same brand.

Looks wise I think the OEM fog light assembly with HID's look a lot better and at the same time give off so much more light. So it actually gives you a cooler look and its functional too.

Yeah - I agree with you. But this was a compromise for the price. I'm happy it's a little bit different.

I actually swapped the power leads on the fogs, so my DTRLs are on with the fog projectors and the headlights are on with the fog halos.

After running with this set up for a while, I decided I like it. The light output is definitely low from the fogs - more for show than anything. I wired them so that I never have to touch them (auto on when headlights are on). Right now, everything comes on when the headlights are on - that's the DTRLs, Headlights, fog halos and fog projectors. Using the manual switch on the turn signal arm, I can turn on ONLY the DTRL/Fog projector circuit if I want that. I also want the ability to turn on ONLY the headlight/fog halo circuit alone, so I'm going to need a switch (just like in the illustration drawing in this thread).

My new switch will shut off the DTRLs/fog projectors leaving only the headlight/fog halos circuit on - which is what I have always envisioned. A side effect of this switch will be that I can have any combination of lights on, at any time.

Your photos are missing can you repost with current links ?

IMO, trying to match the colour of their fogs to the colour temperature of HID headlamps is purely for the sake of appearance - not functionality / usefullness. The old-fashioned yellow fogs were / are far more effective at improving visibility in foggy conditions than 5,000K or 6,000K colour temperature bulbs. Of course, the fact that factory HID headlamps are wired to be on at the same time as the fogs pretty much kills the benefit of fog lamps anyway. YMMV

just what i needed to make my final decision on installing this halo projector fogs. after reading how the quality in light output is so poor, ill stick to the OEM fogs, and add a set of HIDs that i have laying around unopened.

This is why I love this place. I was highly considering doing a projector lens type setup for my OEM fog replacement, but after doing all the reading on here, my take is that the projectors are much less luminant. The LED rings are pretty badass, but I don't have the time (nor patience lol) to mock them up.
