New to the FX and having issues already! *added pics*

Ok I have owned a few Gs and Ms even a Z but this is my first FX. It's a 2003 FX35 fully loaded minus tow package. First issue I have is the car doesn't always lock or unlock with the smart key or button on handle. Then today I was going down the road at 50mph and I lost all power. I pulled over and the car barely started and had the service engine soon, VDC and Slip light on. It ran fine all the way home. I know the car needs new brakes which I'm headed to buy right now. I was going to order some upgraded brakes but that will have to wait bc I don't have the time to wait.

Thanks in advance
Tyson

Don't give up hope yet, these are great cars!
It should be verified by a better description and diagnostic, but the door locks sound like aging actuators. Search for a thread on here for USactuators.com. That solution solved all of my door lock problems.
The engine cut off might be a problem with a cam/crank sensor starting to go out. If that is the problem, it is also an easy fix.
Good luck.

Check CELs. Most likely your cam position sensors. The the door locks suck from Nissan, use an aftermarket actuator. All G, Z, and FX share the same locks and sensors.

Good luck

Yup as stated above those are your issues. Luckily once you fix those issues you will be done with it, not like other cars where you fix tons of things before finding the cause. My camshaft sensor went bad at 8k miles back in 2004, luckily the dealer changed it and it hasnt gave me issues since then. Door actuator tend to go bad on the fx, one after another usually.

Thanks I will look into all that. Just sucks that it was only a day old and already having issues. Never had any of these issues in my other infinitis. I guess I was just lucky.

Welcome to :iS2: Its a 12 years old car. If the parts has not been replaced by previous owner, you'll own them. Nothing unusual on the issues you're experiencing. It just needs a little care and maintenance.

Trust me I understand just wish people could be honest about things. But for what I paid I guess I can't be too mad.

Exactly...it will need some care an maintenance. Any car of this age will....but the fact you were not notified of these things before purchasing is not cool.

......and take that "extra" $4400 and make that 35 truly your own! :good:Oh, and welcome to:iS: !
http://www.USActuators.com (the site works)

lol yeah there is a reason why it was 4400 more ThAn WhAt YoU PaId ROflMfAoz.

enjoy the car!

Oh oh I figured out some of the issues while on the test drive!! But the CPS were not acting up and I reset the ecu and its doing ok. But got both on order already.

But i will tell you this, you wont run into any crazy stupid problems with the FX. For instance my BMW E92 M3, recently it has been giving issues and running into limp mode (pretty much you cant WOT, rev limit is limited and you cant shift). Pulled a code and found out the throttle body actuator on the left side is bad, price for part cheapest i found was $900, plus labor another $600, obviously i will do DIY but you get the difference in our low cost parts infinit models vs stupid german parts.

Dang that is crazy. Last night was first time driving with headlights and noticed the driver side flickers. LOL ugh.

I had same the "loose power" situation before, alternator was going out. Replaced it with $185 Denso alternator, no problems for 1.5 years now.

if i was you i would replace the both cam and crank sensor. P/N 23731-6j90b and 23731-AL61A and 23731AL60C and can go on ebay and fine aftermarket sensor that just as good as the OEM.

Well all the parts I needed have been ordered minus two. I will be getting those ordered soon.

Sounds definitely like the crank sensors, my fiance got a Nissan Xterra a few months ago the same time I got my 2004 FX35, and was having a hell of a time trying to figure out what was wrong. The dealer replaced the crank sensors from another Nissan on the lot instead of paying for new ones and had to replace them twice, with used sensors. Finally took it to Firestone, we found the sensors for them at the local Nissan dealer and had them replace them and now it runs like a champ. It was getting so bad my fiance wanted to return the Xterra. Last time I'll go to that corner used car lot. However, I have hardly had no problems at with my FX, the only problem is the radio cuts out, so instead I'm using my cell with Pandora. Also, cannot get the tranny into maual shift, it stays in D and never goes into M. Other than that, it is really fun, planning on doing some upgrades when I can. This is a keeper.

I replaced the cam position sensors and the car ran and idled better for a while and the the service engine light came back on but no slip and no VDC light either.

Means I found this last night. The alternator is bad.
