New FX blood coming

Hey,

As a proud 2011 FX35 owner to be, I'm new to this forum. Is there any recommendation that how should I do to protect this baby when I get it this weekend? Should I put some wax on it or maybe put some kind if film on it after I drive it out from the dealership?

I live in Naperville, west part of Chicago. Any recommended detailing place in this area? I'm willing to drive within 30 miles to have good/careful professional to do it for me for a fair price.

Thanks,
ZC

Welcome to :iS:... There's a few FX owners down your way.. As for detailing, most of us here DIY.. Andrew and Andy, Aero/ la f35, are by you.. They said yesterday during the meet that they charge $30 for complete exterior detail with buff..

Guys, thanks for all the tips. I find people here are so unselfish and open-minded. A lot of posts/ experience/ advices are extremely helpful. I guess it will take me a lot of time to go through the huge treasury box.

This is my second car and is my first new car. I'm gonna take good care of her and hopefully she'll be as beautiful as the first time I see her five years later.

PMG 705, I tried to google "Andrew and Andy" and "Aero/ la f35" around Naperville but just didn't get any luck. Can you please elaborate more on the places you guys recommended? Thanks in advance!!!

You can look them up on iS for helpful hints.....

Welcome!

I recommend you get a 3M clear bra professionally applied to your car. Infiniti paint is real soft and is prone to rock chips on the front end easily. Do that and you'll be rock chip free!

you should get a 3m clear bra as it protect ur paint. but if u wanna take care. do a nice clay bar since u dont know how long its been out for and put a nice coat of wax on it and ur good

 How did I miss this thread! PMG_705 is close about the detailing pricing. $30 is right price, but we'll direct and you get to play though. We'll be seating in our el cheapo white plastic lawn chairs sipping ice tea and watching you sweat at it. Ooh wait your FX is an 2011, sorry it will be more; why? just because it's an 2011.

Zack, just kidding with you. If you need a pointer with cars, just drop us a line. We're more than welcome to help out.

welcome to the forum. An '11 still has fresh paint. Wait on waxing, unless you use Ice liquid. Once the paint hardens, switch to Ice paste, just before winter.

If you go w/ a clear bra, have it done outside the dealership and save 50% on the cost.

Enjoy the new ride.

use a claybar to remove contaminants in the paint.. often rail dust (corrosive) embeds itself into paint during initial transport.

then seal the paint up with some wax and polish.

rinse and repeat as necessary. towel dry. (microfiber)
