Need help/advice picking a new exhaust.

Hello all!

recently had some issues with my exhaust and just decided to pull the trigger on a aftermarket exhaust the problem is i dont know which one to get.

the top three are

1. Nismo S tune( love the sound but i heard there is no power gained from it)
2. invidia (Cat-back exhaust)
3. Stillen( still debating about this one since i heard it rust real bad)
 
Invidia all the way...beautiful exhaust. No one has ever complained about any rust on them and it will make really noticeable gains w/o being too much louder than stock. I love mine and would def take over the stillen. It jst looks like a better made exhaust.
 
i would still get the nismo. amplified stock sound trumps everything else. you shouldn't be expecting a lot of hp gains from exhaust gains anyways. look what JB did, he got motordyne burnt tips. they looked nice.
 
Nismo. Sounds amazing, and it's lighter than stock. Surely there are gains from it, wouldn't make sense. Enough people here have it that I'm sure someone can comment on it.
 
after hearing the STILLEN/INVIDIA/NISMO, I would go with nismo. Just a cleaner tone.

Nismo S-tune exhaust on 350z = 6 HP and 3.5 lb-ft gain to rear wheels, 9 lbs lighter than stock (vs 350z exhaust). Who knows on the FX, but I would think you would gain at least some hp. You are going from a 2.5" diameter exhaust to 3.0" diameter exhaust.

I would say this is the best sound exhaust.

Invidia, true dual, cat-back exhaust. 2.36" diameter exhaust, they went smaller than OEM, which is smart, because you won't lose back pressure, and with true dual, your restriction is less. With this system, you should gain the most HP or equal with Stillen.

Stillen, second best sounding, but probably the cheapest type 304 stainless steel we have seen... It just looks really bad, I wouldn't get it. If it was similar in cost to Invidia, maybe, but it's around $1,300!

Don't count out HKS. It is between the Nismo and OEM in terms of sound, but HP gains I believe were more than the NISMO (or at least what the HKS USA office told me -- and they just removed their number for the public to call.... that sucks).

Most like the NISMO though because you retain the "exotic" tone of the stock exhaust, just LOUDER.
 
well guys it all comes down to nismo s tune and invidia.. i hear you guys about the invidia exhaust.. my friend have one installed on his FX35 sounds good.. but def the Nismo s tune have the better sound.. its a tight match due to the fact that both exhaust system give some HP of some sort..

with that said.. any of you know of good vendors for them?

Gordon here works for Invidia. But that being said, I've seen it cheaper on ebay...

Invidia is a true dual and will give better gains, it's also cheaper brand new...it's really a no brainer. So what if it doesn't sound as good as the nismo...it still sounds really good. I wanted a nismo too, but wouldn't trade my invidia for one now...best exhaust for the FX hands down.
 
i want a Nismo S tune.. i being looking around for a used one but no freaking luck.. checked my350z and g35driver forum and no luck.. i'll look for 2-3 more days(dont have much time to look for one cause my FX didnt pass the state inspection due to the leak on the muffler ) and see whats pops up.. if you guys stumble into a good deal on one let me know... post the link here or something.. if i dont find one with in 2-3 days i guess Invidia will be the one to go with.

Just go with the Nismo S-Tune... it's be rare to find it used and it would be easy to sell if you ever decided to get rid of it.

Earlier, it was a bit easier to find used as many first bought the Nismo S-Tune as it was readily available for 350z and G35 owners. Then, aftermarket exhausts flooded the market and true dual and light weight single exhausts became popular.

Then, people started to try these out and sell their Nismo S-Tune exhausts.

But guess what, even with the small HP gain (3.5 WHP) and 9 lb weight savings (some single titanium exhausts are 9 lbs TOTAL), I would go out and say it's the general consensus that Nismo exhaust note is always in the top 3, and practically #1 in a lot of people's opinions.

So now people are going back to Nismo after annoying drone, loud exhausts, etc... as we all get older=)

Why am I saying this? I should have gotten Nismo from the beginning like Pierce, GTO, TrainerKEN, etc... I think they bought them new at West Corvina Nissan and it's been like 5 years going strong...

So if you're set on the Nismo, GET IT!:rofl:
 
I have Invidia now. I like it. I chose Invidia at the time because is more affordable at the time.
If I get to buy exhaust again, I would go with Nismo in a heart beat. I miss the exotic tone!
 
You guys are bad influence lol!!! Ya making me pull the trigger on a brand new Nismo!!! I once heard GTO's floored his FX with his Nismo exhaust and no lies I got a hard on.. Lol.. Since than always liked the Nismo.. So if I don't find a used one soon I guess a new one will be..

You ask for it Jonathan, so we give our honest opinions! :biggrin:

:rofl: Wow, control buddy, control it. Seriously, I did not regret having the Invidia. Just wish it has a bit of the exotic tone will be the best of both world! Save up a some more and go for the Nismo!
