Megan or BC Coilovers?

Getting ready to replace my struts so I figure I might as well make the leap and add coilovers to my set-up. So help me decide...Buddy Club or Megan? And Why? Lastly and most importantly who has them for the best price?

Oh and are they easy to install and adjust? I've done springs before but would assume this would be easier as no spring compressor would be needed. Thanks for your help guys!:wink (2):

Buddy Club is a different brand. BC Racing is a Chinese company.

BC and Megan are manufactured in Taiwan. There are very few differences between the two in terms of features. But I believe BC has a $99 replacement guarantee for life. Not sure what Megan offers so maybe a Megan owner can speak up?

Most of the guys that ordered the BCs here on IS did it through Import Image. Totally worth while because of the adjustability. You can go as low as your tires will let you and also make the ride softer or harder with the turn of a knob.

Buying the full suspension is cheaper than buying the full OEM suspension - there's no reason not to get these. Good luck!

well said jumbo either way you go you will be happy. I think you can find them pretty much at the same price but the one thing that got me to going with bc is the warranty price on new parts for life. 99 bucks!!! can't be that.

I'm very happy with my Meagans

The huge difference between both of them is the coil rating. BC are at 12, where as Megan are at 18 this means your ride won't bottom out as much as if you had the BC set up.

Talk to Josh at Import Image and he will tell you all the pros and cons to both. He's the man with the info on both and gave me the best price that I could find anywhere. I got the BC cause the quality was worth the extra money and the warranty is great piece of mind. So far I've been more than happy

I'm all for coil-overs, but this comment is a bit misleading. True, but misleading. The only parts of the OEM suspension that ever need replacing are the shocks. (there are a couple more, like strut bearings but their cost is negligible for this example) At +/- $250 for all 4 corners and a (short) 60K mile service interval, it would take 240K miles just to break even on the coil over upgrade. Now factor in the cost of replacing the coil over shocks as well, and you add an extra 120K miles to the break even factor, bringing it out to a lofty 360K miles. Suffice it to say coil overs are in no way cheaper than OEM suspension unless you replace the entire system, which is completely unnecessary.
Here are my assumptions, in case you're wondering:

*60K mile shock replacement interval
*OEM shocks - $250
*Coils - $1000
*Coil shock replacement - $100 (assuming the warranty covers replacing all 4 corners per normal maintenance)
*Someone, somewhere will keep their FX for 360K miles.
*No labor charges

Service life comparison:

60K miles -- $250/$1000 ($250/$1000)
120K miles - $250/$100 ($500/$1100)
180K miles - $250/$100 ($750/$1200)
240K miles - $250/$100 ($1000/$1300)
300K miles - $250/$100 ($1250/$1400)
360K miles - $250/$100 ($1500/$1500)

Even if you add in the cost of lowering springs ($250) to the OEM option, the break even point only drops to 240K miles.

I can get Megans for about $850... What are the BCs thru import image? Since they are sponsors I believe we can discuss price right? Was I right about install? You guys rock thnx for all the responses.

You might want to chime in on the official BC thread for a quicker response.

PM him but he might take a bit to respond. Did for me. BCs are $999 shipped and I'm pretty sure price is firm. Like I said, at most one set left in FL so might be awhile after that's gone.

You have to remember even though they they are made from the same factory, etc. BC's have a better warranty and replacement policy.. There are also some slight differences between the two, which Josh from importimage can tell you about.

Really think about it, what happens when you need one replaced in a couple years from now? BC has a $99 replacement policy after the first year.

I don't have spacers but no shake or shimmy after the coilover install. I haven't even got an alignment yet :turtle:.

Wow.. Josh seems to be a pretty popular guy.

As for me. I have nothing to complain about when it comes to service. They are in my back yard and have not had an issue that they are not willing to fix if I asked..

I went into it thinking I was gonna save me a hundred and get the Megan's but after listening the differences in a fair and optimistic way the BC's were the better choice for me. Don't just base it off of saving money cause like fxlr8 said what happens when you need to replace something in a couple years?
