I'm in the process of buying a set of (H&R) lowering springs but I need an input of anyone running their fxs on this set up is it worth the money any headaches?.

Also I was thinking to put spacers all around any advices will affect my ride and what would be the most ideal set up?

Thank you guys your help its greatly appreciated.

I just recently put them on my fx. I cut my h&r's so i could have a lower drop. Couldn't be anymore happier. I also put 25mm spacers and all is good. No headaches at all man. Go for it.

The springs are a worthwhile mod for sure. Depending on your mileage and service history you may want to replace the shocks and struts while you're "in there".
If you have a little more to spend ($1000 vs $500), coilovers are available for your FX and offer a simplified installation and are adjustable.

thnx alot guys greatly apprecited

Yup ask tchuck was saying, springs are defintely worthwhile mods and if finance allowed, go for the coilovers. You won't regret it.

If you decided to go with coilovers, the installation is a simple swap and then go for an alignment. If you been working around a little bit you probably can change them out yourself. No special tools needed... just spray the the bolts/nuts that attached to the struts and shocks the night before with PB Blaster penetrating catalyst/oil, a metric socket set, long breaker bar or use the jack handle bar as a "cheater bar", jack & jack stands.

As for alignment, if the Firestone in your area offer lifetime alignment deal, I would suggest you take it. Just go back one more time you already got your money back.

Lots of guys cut the H&R's for the FX; it's sort of acceptable. I did it on mine and it's been working fine for a while now. You're not changing the spring rate or anything like that and the way it mounts, you can cut it and still have it fit on the strut properly. You just have to rotate it a little bit. The only difference is that it's a little bit harder to install once it's cut, but once installed, it pretty much fits the same. This is only on the front btw, the rears don't get cut.

:eek.:

Jesus christ!

i concur with the coilovers vs springs. i put on eibachs and somewhat satified, but i'm sure you could more drop if needed. shouldn't be any more difficult than putting on springs...PITA.

Get coils!

Agreed. I had cut eibach fronts, even though the drop looked great, securing the spring to the seat is crucial. It is still possible for the spring to rotate and pop out of the seat, which is what happened to mine. Cutting the spring also changes the spring's characteristics. With Eicach's snapping issue from before, the added stress eventually caught up with my set and left me stranded at one point. I've got HRs now uncut, but I'd definitely consider coil overs over the lowering springs.

go coils. you can get a more aggressive drop, but you'll also have aggressive negative camber. i perused a post here and a fx on coils was running close to a -3 camber. at least with springs you can align close to specs.

That's the main reason I went with springs uncut...I liked the megan coilovers but don't like that negative camber in the rear. Didn't want my tires to wear like that.
And alignment was almost perfect...my rears have almost no negative camber and personally I think the drop is enough as sometimes I miss the original ride height of
the stock set up. Anyone know how high of a ride height you can do on the
coilovers? Can you get close to stock height??

Thx man...wow I didn't know they could extend that high. Hmmm...may have to switch to coilovers...just the abiltuiy to change the ride height is worth it.
