Hello friends!

I am looking to purchase my 2nd boat... the first one I ever owned was a 17 foot Bayliner Capri... with a 4 cyl engine. It was fun for a first boat, but now I am ready for something bigger with more power.

Here is what I am looking for...

21-23 foot

open bow

I/O 6-8 cyl

looking to spend 10k-14k

What kind of boats do you guys have, (pics please) and suggestions please!!?

Thanks fellas!

I have a 2003 24' Hardtop boat. It has a 250HP outboard for power. I have had about 6 different boats.

Here is a pic from today, I am putting it away for the winter:

Get either a Sea Ray, Regal or Four Winns, older ones can be had for your price range, all are good quality boats and hold their value. If you get real lucky you can find a Formula which is one of the best built all around boats money can buy. I have owned and bought and sold alot of boats, I would look in South Florida, the economy sucks here and there are alot of good deals for someone with cash, and don't be afraid of the salt water, most people take better care of their boats here because they have too! Also, they get used more, my point is...I would rather buy a boat that has higher hours that has been well maintained than one that has low hours and has sat in storage for long periods of time. The worst thing you can do to a boat is let it sit without using it. I hope this helps, good luck!

I hear that the high cost of boat ownership is not due to its purchase price, but for its maintenance, storage etc..

I've seen you on your yacht on lake michigan with a bunch of ladies, that's how pmg rolls.

My family has had boats for most of my life. Many years with a sailboat out on Lake Michigan. Storage and docking fees aren't cheap, but it really was a cool experience to be able to go out on our inland ocean. Parents retired and now have a fishing boat in FL. Insurance on that is insane because of the hurricanes. But they go down there a few times a year and use it basically every day. Look at it this way, it's not an investment, you'll never get out of it what you put in. As long as you're cool with that, you'll be fine.

Seadoo RXT-X FTW:top:

Hugo- you limiting your search to day cruiser river boats?
I used to shop around for ~30ft open bow's. (varieties of Eliminator, Fountain, Hallett). Now I want a Sundancer 440. Consider it a vacation home.

I agree. FL has the best used boat market. Portland, CA bay area, and Michigan usually have good bargains too.

We need to get together and race. I'd probably lose with all you high ballers. But it'll still be fun.....

I have two Yamaha FXSHO's that are super charged 1.9 liters that are totally badass! But I still like my boat, the ski's are great but you cant drive them at night, they have very little storage and the rain is like needles in your face. Also they will wear you out after a day in rough water. Oh yeah did I mention that they will do 72 mph and pull a skiers arms out of socket! HAHA

Or yeah intakes, ride plates etc:)
