I'm gonna be in Dallas for a weekend in late august and was wondering if any of the Dallas folk had any good recommendations on places to eat/drink. The in-laws live up there, and we typically go out to eat, but usually the same places and I'd like to maybe try something different for a change.

We have quite a few restaurants that are popular with the locals down here, was wondering what Dallas has. Preferably North Dallas.. Richardson area.

I can't tell you much about that area but there are alot of FXers up there. If you want anything a little more south let me know. I'll still be around then.

How far south are you? Looks like it'll be mid august, not late august. Will be leaving houston after work on the 14th so we'll be there in the evening. Leaving that sunday for home.

Cool, looks like I'll be not too far north of you. Her parents live in that neighborhood just north of Richland College. The only time i've gone south of 635 was either to the dog park at white rock lake, or the time I was craving a soft pretzel so we ran to the galleria  that was the only place my sister in law could think of to get a pretzel:dontknow:

Ya, I drive around white rock lake alot. Actually, I'm trying to help organize a meet on my350z.com where we will drive around it and meet for pics and stuff in one the parking lots. I'll probably post it up on here, but maybe you will be in town for it.
I'm pretty sure the Galleria is actually north of 635 though.

:rofl:You would know better than me sir! IMO, Dallas highways are confusing. All I know is to keep out of south dallas, as mentioned on another thread.
About that 350Z meet, if I'm in town I'll definitely stop by to meet up and maybe take some pics. We comin for my brother-in-law's birthday, so there may not be too much time for anything... Would be cool to meet The Great Stu before you ditch TX! hahah

Hey if you just want to get together, I'm all for it. Nothing seems to have happened on the Z meet since I've been gone. But ya, I should be here around the 14th. I'm doing an extensive photoshoot at some point with my friend. We're hoping to do some drifting shots among other normal shots. I've got nothing going on until September 19th that I know of yet.
Let me know if you have some free time, I'm always looking for more pics. And I'll let you know about the cruise. Would be cool to have another FX if it works out.

We've been to Babes. I didn't know you could cram so many people in one restaurant. I don't remember the food though.. so I probably thought it was neither bad nor great.

Never been to Bone Daddy's though. See it all the time. Wife said she went once, had such horrible service they tipped the girl a penny and left. Theyve never been back since. Said its pretty much like Hooters.

What else yall got up there?

Have you try Chinese food ?. There is First BBQ (Chinese Restaurant) on Walnut & Jupiter in Garland just about 2 miles on west of Richardson Coll. It is not that bad at all.

Are you looking for nice sit down restaurants, or more like the sports bar kinda place? Those two places sound more along the lines of sports bars.

yeah, First BBQ is one of those places im tired of. Lol one day, all the cooks decided it was time for dinner, so they all came out into the dining area and had dinner. problem was... the restaurant was full of people waiting on their food. I think we waited over half an hour for wonton noodle soup. Good food nonetheless.

Any kind of restaurant is fine. Just looking for something local to dallas.. something I won't find in Houston. It could be a hole in the wall as long as it has yummy food. All we do up there is eat, so I'm just looking for something different.

Well, I'm not sure how far you want to drive, but there's a restaurant called Ozona, and it's right by SMU just off of 75. They have the best chicken fried steak in Dallas, and the fries and gravy are great. I've been going there along time with my parents, and the remodeled it in the past couple years, and that place is always packed. Between the parking lot being full and valet parking taking up the other lot, I actually parked on the street on the side and we had to eat in the bar with all the people. Of course they have patio seating, but it can be really hot outside.

Well there you go, sounds like you are set, haha. If you want the general area, it's just south of University Blvd on Greenville Ave. My dad used to go alot because he worked a block away and he knows the manager well. She wasn't there when we went last time at night though.

twisted root burger co. it's good. featured on diners drive ins and dives. I like bone daddy's. get the flying pig sandwich, and check out the great asses. osaka, or tokyo one for sushi buffet. grimaldi's pizza up town is good.

Twisted root is in deep ellum right? Been there a couple times and enjoyed it. Right by downtown. I'll have to try this pizza place in uptown. I've grown to like that part of town over the summer.
