Lambo doors

Hi guys,

Apart from a couple of members, Is there anyone else who has any experiance or ideas about fitting lambo doors on our FX's. I know they will look cool but are there any big disadvantages about installing lambo doors..This site www.aerokits.net has the straight vertical doors which I amd considering to buy as here in taiwan, too many people park too close to you and my door is always getting little knocks...etc..They also have the Gull Wing doors for the FX...Have inquired if the kit fits an 05 FX35 as they state 06+ on their site and YES the kit will fit and they are also at half price at the moment..Have asked a few of my friends that live in the states and they all say the company and kits are top quality..Anyone hear differently or have any ideas or input, please let me know..I will hopefully be the first person in Taiwan with the lambo doors kit fitted on my FX35..Check out the site and let me know ur opinions..

I believe the one who can answer your question will be Fxtion. He has the lambo door installed on his FX. He should be able to provide you more precise feedback. You should send him a PM.

Look, I fixed it.

But, if you actually want them because the parking is that horrible, that seems like a legitimate reason. Maybe if you post a picture of how close the parking gets, we can provide you with which would be the better option, gullwing or lambo, or if there are any other ideas.:tup:
 
I think he meant in general which is true. Even 5-6 years ago, a lot of the guys I knew with top show cars took the lambo doors off because everyone had them. It's what happens when the conversion kits go from $2k to $299. Around here it seems to be the hot thing still for Neons and Cobalts...

To answer dragonh's post, lambo doors may not be a good solution to your problem. The door still has to open quite a ways before it swings up, so you still may not have enough room when parked very close. Also, so many of the kits out there are junk and have wobbly hinges and flex. If everything isn't perfect, you'll often damage your fender because the door will hit it.

And how would a gullwing door work in this case? Don't they swing up by the A pillar? I'd think that it would still need clearance to swing out. Finally, wouldn't it be really inconvenient to close the door when getting out of the car? On a regular car, it's not so bad. But even a lowered FX is still pretty high.

Just make sure they can open out before going up so you don't create a death trap like some of the Lambo's that have them.

Also, get what YOU want.
 
if you want em.. get em... its your car... you know whats really played out.. black wheels... guess what.. i still love mine and i wouldnt do my car any different just cuz someone said they were lame.
fads come and go and come back again.

but to be helpful instead of flaming... only complaint ive heard about the lambo doors is larger people have a problem getting in and out of the narrower opening and some garage roofs are too low and you get a whole new kind of door ding.
 
All I have to say is if its your car you can obviously do whatever you want. I'll only support Mr DragonH on that because its a different idea on the FX. The doors on the FX above look a little uneven..either a shitty setup or maybe the drivers door isn't up all the way. But it does look cool/different. I personally wouldn't do it.

I saw the music video "this is how we do" at a bar a month ago (awesome song). 50 had lambo door on his Escalade crusing down the streets. I thought how sweet is that! On my FX? Then I was like, nah. Leave it to music videos and "show" cars. If you plan on showing your FX it'd be pretty sweet. But on the daily I bet it's impractical.
