I was thinking of dropping in a set of K&N's in my FX35. I was curious if anyone had them and if they noticed any change?

I used them. Their good for what they are, but the oil on the filters clogged up my throttle bodies over a period of time and screwed up my idling. I had to have the throttle bodies cleaned cause of that crappy oil K&N uses to lube the filters with.

You're using too much. Under proper operating conditions the oil doesn't leave the filter element.

No I didn't oil them. They were put in the way they came from the factory. They already came pre oiled.

And I'm apparently not the first one with this issue. If you do a google search you'll see that a few other people had this problem too with K&N air filters.

I've heard the claims before. Think about how fast the air would have to be moving in order to pull oil from a properly oiled filter element, and all the way up to your TB. I keep using the term "properly oiled" because lots of people over-oil them. Obviously you didn't... Now consider the air in your intake tract moves around 25mph @7K rpms, and that there are pcv valves venting crankcase fumes into your intake pipes (on the filter side of your TBs). Does the buildup look blackish yellow, like motor oil, or is it red like K&N oil? I've seen a lot of buildup. Never seen it red...
