Been working on an oil catch for my FX for a while now. It started with a universal oil catch that I bought on eBay and had installed on the passenger PCV. Here's a definition that will really help out:
The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is designed to regulate and
remove fumes from the engine crankcase, and to alleviate crankcase pressure which could cause oil leaks or seal damage. The PCV system routes crankcase fumes into the intake manifold where they can be burned to eliminate harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The PCV valve controls the amount of crankcase flow volume depending on the engine's load. With large throttle openings (high engine loads), the more blow-by gases are produced, and the more the PCV system flows oil vapor in to the intake manifold. The PCV valve also functions as a check valve to prevent intake manifold flow from reversing back into the crankcase when there is a backfire, or during periods of high manifold pressure (boost) during forced induction by turbocharger or supercharger.
Originally, I had the oil catch installed inline from the PCV to the lower plenum. Here's a photo:

After running that for a few weeks, I found the ARC oil catch for the 350Z (Z33). I saw that it had three hoses and that two of them were large and one was small. I didn't understand and started a thread about the ARC oil catch and how it works. In a nutshell what I learned is that there is another valve cover vent hose, located directly under the Throttle Body. The ARC oil catch takes both valve cover hoses and route them into the can. Then it uses a third hose for suction/vacuum. Makes total sense to me - the way I have it set up above, the second valve cover isn't going into the can. So I modified it to route both valve cover hoses into a T-fitting, then into the inlet of the can. I made a diagram to illustrate the ARC design, with the two suction options:

Here's the T-fitting that goes into the can:

Now, there's a new problem. I can tell there is a pressure bottleneck at each fitting going in to/coming out of the can. I need larger orifices so that air passes through freely.
In my continuing research, there are a ton of options out there. But I want to be SURE that pressure bottlenecks won't be a problem because I do plan on FI in the future. If my current catch isn't doing well at NA, it definitely can't handle FI. I'm starting this thread to get the community's experience with catch cans. I've read all the threads here on IS and many on other forums as well. There does not seem to be any clear winners out there - catch tanks that are universally accepted as, "the best".
Just because of the cost, I might consider tryng to modify my current catch can again. I can model them after the ones I have been looking to buy. My top three aftermarket catch cans are:
-ARC oil catch (Z33)

-5Zigen proracer oil catch tank

-E2 PVC oil catch

Anybody have any knowledge/opinions they can throw down?
