jl subs

Any class D amp would work for those. JL is a good company; you're also going to need wiring and a way to get signal to those subs, so keep that in mind. None of it's hard.

So I bought the jl xd 600/1 amp and was wondering what amp wiring kit do I need the sales person was trying to give me a kit I dont know the specs but it was almost 400 dollars which sounded way too much.

That amp might be a little too powerful for those subs but you can keep the gain down and headroom is good. Not sure how underrated those subs are but jl says no more then 200 watts each. did you buy the subs yet

Actually that wasn't from overpowering (technically) but a clipped signal. The 10w6 can eaily handle 500 watts rms but when you turn the gain all the way up it sends a clipped signal which can double the power of the amp and blow the sub. If the gains were set properly that amp would have never blown that sub

But Jefferson is correct, that's what a blown sub looks like sometimes

It was probably my bad, I was using that amp for 4 10wv2 subs in my QX4
and I put it from there into the FX without changing any settings on the amp

Okay thats good im always lazy to exchange or return things haha, now I have to learn how to set the knobs on the amp properly. Im from hamilton, ontario by the way

I'm old school, i adjust by ear. Some adjust using a DMM. If you want to adjust by ear, turn the volume of the head unit to around 75% volume and slowly turn up the gain on the amp until you hear clippng, then turn the gain back a little and you're good. If that amp had a remote bass (gain) knob you can always set the gan a little higher on the amp but control the gain settng with the knob for different source. I find my radio doesn't play as loud as my cd player so i use the knob in my FX

I buy my audio from Radioactive in Burlington so if you need some one to help with the adjustments they are really good
I live in Milton

I should check out that place I'm a total noob when it comes to audio but I know I just want more bass. How do I know when its clipping? Also the installer said I need a high level input or something like that do I really need it? Hey were not to far from each other haha
