I know there are a few threads on this topic already, but I figured I would make one for my FX50 in particular....and it says exhaust because the res. delete will most likely be the cheap temporary option until a better option emerges....and 09+fx35 exhausts are compatible so I marked the thread "2nd gen FXs"

I've been thinking of instead of doing a full exhaust, and since there are not really exhausts avail for the fx50, that a resonator delete would be a better idea for the time being. I know others have done the same but there are really no good videos or pictures/instructions to go along with saying "fx50 resonator delete"

Instead of chopping up my factory midpipes, I think it may be better to buy another midpipe (so i can return to oem later if I want) To cut up and alter....

since the 09+FX is much like the 08- FX, where the G exhausts fit besides extension, I can try to fin the midpipe portion from a cheap g37 exhaust OR find a used g37 midpipe to cut up, in order to keep my factory midpipes.....
time to check craigslist and g37 sites.....

here's what our resonators look like stock:
number 10

midpipe2.png

so basically a resonator delete is obviously to DELETE the two resonators and replace with straight piping........

this is how it mounts:(taken from rant thread)

so basically either straight piping the existing resonators, or finding a replacement midpipe from g37 exhausts, would be the way to go until a real exhaust (borla didnt do it for me and invidia isnt official)emerges for the fx50......or maybe a full g37 exhaust should be used and have extended tips, like on my old 35...
or maybe I can try to contact a borla dealer for JUST the midpipe section.....

Time to scour the net for g37 parts, bother borla dealers, and call local muffler shops.

Does anybody think thank deleting the resonators will have any adverse effects, such as loss of low end torque?

you should be fine with anything out there on the single, But keep the dual on the 2.25 side. 2.5 might be too much. hard to say.
Finally . . were gonna get to see some good 50 videos without all the arabic tunage blaring. They always seem to crank that up.

yeah man I'll find something and provide my obligatory videos haha
but for now I may just do the resonator delete and wait for exhaust to come out (or wait to see that they arent coming out) before I move to a full exhaust:tup:

Depends who you ask, but so sayeth Motor Trend.

FX50: 5.2-second time to 60, it finished the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds at 102.1 mph.
G37: 5.4 0-60 and 14.0 sec @ 100.9 mph 1/4 mile

yeah when you average out most of the reviews, they are basically the "same" speed..with the FX50 having a little better accel.
