Nice. Good to see they are doing it right, pulling it apart and wrapping panel by panel.

Make sure to post pics of the finish product, that colour looks great.

Man is that cool!!! I'm actually thinking of doing mine too . I called a company to get a quote and they wouldn't give me one over the phone. So I hope this isn't to personal asking how much it cost??

You could probably do it yourself Jonathan. Vinyl is really cheap and you could buy a ton of it just to practice until you have it down. Tons of tutorials and videos out there on how to do it.

Labor is highly dependent on your location. If you're someplace you have lots of vinyl shops, labor will be decent. But if only one shop in town will do it, it's going to cost. Here in Atlanta, it ranges between $1500 and $3000 in labor for a car the size of the FX. The $1500 was a quote from a shop that has wrapped my other car so it may be slightly discounted. But if a shop came in much below $2K including materials, I'd stay away unless they were trying to get some advertising out of it. It's close to 50 man hours of labor.

You can do it yourself and the FX is probably one of the easier cars to work on since there aren't too many complex curves. But even though vinyl is relatively cheap, it still works out to ~$2 per square foot. So every time you mess up a panel, it will cost a decent amount. Mess up a door and you lost $30-40 in vinyl. Mess up your roof or hood and you're out $60-70 in material. It's not like wrapping your interior pieces where if you mess up there's no real loss since the amount of material is so small. I think the bumpers are going to be the trickiest part and if you mess one up, it's a lot of material.

I'd maybe try wrapping your roof first to get a feel for it. If you feel confident after that, give it a shot.

I'm sure it will last a few years. It all depends where you live. Our weather here in California is pretty much the same year round and I park it in the garage.

If you park in a covered area, and you drive around mostly in cali, where the weather is nice, the wrap will last a long time.

I have been hard as hell on my wrap, and when I clean it, still looks almost 100%, and that's after almost 2 years, and 2 canadian winters.

^Seriously. I wasn't kidding, my car isn't a princess, she gets used. Only thing is I make sure to take good care of her, and she continues to clean up excellently...
