I have a 2006 FX35 that has 61K miles. Today, the intelligent cruise control would not engage. It gave me a long beep and the amber light illuminated. When setting the cruise to the conventional mode(holding switch for 2 seconds), it engaged just find and worked properly. Any ideas why one setting would work and the other does not? I checked the sensor and it was clean and showed no signs of damage. Thanks.

Oddly enough, yes. Haven't had this problem before. Bought the car in August of last year. 97 degrees here in Texas today and driving due west at 3pm. I'll try it in the morning while it's dark.

Thanks.

Ok so... car ran fine this morning with ICC engaged. It was dark out and only about 80 degrees. Left work at 3pm and it was 100 degrees out and sunny. ICC engaged and worked about 5 miles before disengaging. It would not re-engage for the entire 45 minute trip. After pulling into garage, I shut the car off and immediately restarted it. The ICC engaged normally but I did not drive anywhere. Could the heat be causing this?

I read in the owners manual that the ICC will dis-engage if:
When strong light (for example, at
sunrise or sunset) is directly shining
on the front of the vehicle.(page 5-52)

I've had mine cut out when driving west into the sun, but later in the day closer to sunset. It's 5 now and the sun is still pretty high up, so that's odd it was shutting off on you if it was the sun.

Very unfortunate if that's the case. Once summer sets in down here in Texas, It won't start cooling down until mid October.

That still seems odd. I've driven Between CA-TX multiple times in the summer in much worse heat than we have now and no issues.

I actually had no idea I could remove ICC, so thumbs up for the info!(y)

May not have to worry about this issue anymore. Got t-boned this morning by a red light runner with no license or insurance. Find out tomorrow if my insurance company decides to declare it a total loss....

Thanks, just a little sore. FX took the hit like a boss. Spun me around 3 times and ended up facing traffic on a 3 lane 55MPH highway. Was still able to limp it to a safe spot dragging the right rear wheel. Not sure how to post pictures on this site. When I figure it out, I'll post a couple.

Glad to hear youre OK since the FX can always be replaced. As for the pictures, if you have the pics saved locally on your computer/tablet/phone, you can click,on the upload a file button on the bottom right and do it that way.
