HEY EVERYONE, I HAVE A 04 FX35 WITH 80K MILES, NOW I HAD INSTALLED THE MEGAN TEST PIPES, AND THE REST OF EXHAUST IS STOCK.

soon as it was installed, i drove it on the hwy, i drove it in tiptronic then whenever i push the the car/or rev i hear clunking or something metal pinging under neat the car towards more where the testpipes were installed.

i also hear some clunking or metal hitting metal when i go over bumps.

however when idling or at really slow speeds or perfect road, there is no noise.

i also hear like wind resisting from a pipe or something underneath the car when driving at high speeds in the hwy, i can hear it even when the windows are rolled up.

i had a reputable shop installed them too.
they said its the testpipes hitting parts of the underneath because the aftermarket pipes arent fully attached to the body/no brackets holding the testpipes. could this be true?
they also said that is why in bumps the pipes are moving around.

but could something else be loose coz it sounds like there is and only makes those weird noises, either clunking, metal hitting metal(like pipes broken), wind resistance when going at high speeds in hwy and something that feels loose and can also hear it when making sharp turns.

help? thanks

They are right about not having brackets, so maybe that's leaving them too loose. I think they make some test pipes with brackets.

Bro I also have megan's racing cats installed and they will hit the frame of the FX everytime you go thru a pothole or bump.. In my case it was the one underneath the driver's seat. My solution.. Grabbed a piece of metal wire and pushed the Y-pipe away from the frame enough not to knock on the left side of the frame but not too much so the right side start knocking as well.. Then I held it there with the metal wire. Knocking is gone and it was a cheap solution.. Also you my start getting a rattling noise from the exhaust.. I'm still dealing with this.. Haven't found a solution yet.. Also if you don't get the sensor extension your engine sign will be on the cluster all the time no matter how Many time you reset the computer.. Ichiba..( don't know if that the correct spelling) make some for the 350Z which fit perfectly on our FX.

Rubare, what does this metal wire look like, or where did you get it? I wanted to do something similar because I thought it would be easier than welding, and I pictured using a wire like you did.

Stux just regular metal wire.. You can find it at your local hardware store it's usually used for tying fence and things of that nature. Ill take a picture as soon as I can and post it up.

damn i should have read this before i went back to the shop that installed the pipes, smh lol
anyways, what they did was welded a bracket from the test pipes to the some metal part on the middle of the bottom car that was attached to the frame of the car. rattling and feeling loose is gone but now i feel vibration on the frame of car smh lol. but its way better than i had it before, but what sux was the shop wanted to charge me $65 to weld just 2 lines from the tespipes to the frame of car. i talked them down to $40 but still sux coz why didnt they just do it the other day when they installed the pipes, and why didnt they testdrive it when they installed the pipes. even after i drove it out of there but it was already late around 645pm(thur) and i told the guy that i will come back next day(fri). smh. they suck! and i do regret installing these, but what the hay! lol
thanks for some of the info guys, im also gonna install the metal wires now too.

It's not a shop's job to add extra stuff like that unless you ask, or it's a high end shop and you're paying big bucks to have it perfect. They are just installing them for you.

true but they didnt even tell me about this or warn me or even test drove the car before giving me the car.
when i drove it out the first time, i got on the hwy then called him and then turned back around to show him. and then he tells me about the situation. and it was late already like 645pm and shop closes at 7pm so i told him ill come back the next day.

then the shop wanted to charge me the next day $20 to lift it up then the weld job. well then again this is my first time i went to this shop, i usually have my own guy but the guy i go to seemed he was not sure how to install this one. and some ppl told me to go to this other one that i went to now because i heard he does testpipes install for all the g35's and 350z. thats why i went to this one, i dont normally got to random shops or shops i dont know anyone personally.

i had a shop take off the fabricated brackets coz too much vibration, it was welded on the body of car, smh fail. (the shop did it)

now i took it to meineke and they put a bracket on the Y-pipe, now pipes that were hitting the bottom part of car and vibration gone, wooohooo, but my Y pipe still has some rattling inside.smh lol d'oh.

oh and im gonna make a vid today by the way
