Infinity_Racer's build thread

Not sure where this goes but I figure since it's a lot of images, I can post here. We picked this 07 FX35 last July and I convinced my fiance to let me do some stuff to it. Always wanted one but never had a chance to get one so I'm modding it like it was my own, except she gets to drive it on a daily.

***Excuse the pictures, the fiance took most of them trying to be artsy lol

Here it is when we first picked it up in front of my weekend toy.

First thing I did was get the front windows tinted

Then found a set of H&R springs on Craigslist for a pretty good deal
http://s12.photobucket.com/user/kyddo112/media/HampRFX35_zps029ec04c.jpg.html]HampRFX35_zps029ec04c.jpg

She liked how my Element and 335i had the LED conversion inside so I got her a set
http://s12.photobucket.com/user/kyddo112/media/IMG_4583_zps21ac118b.jpg.html]IMG_4583_zps21ac118b.jpg

I left it alone throughout winter then started browsing Craigslist again this past spring for wheels. I really wanted GTR wheels but they are pretty pricey and I just bought wheels for my own car so I wasn't trying to spend too much on her car lol. Found a set of 20" TSWs in pretty bad shape. They were originally polished but had clear coat peeling so I just sanded it down and plastidipped it black. I also plastidipped the front grill to match.

We changed out the pads and rotors and redid the wheels in anthracite plastidip. Also ordered window visors.

Then I got tired of her chrome headlights so I baked it and painted it anthracite to match the wheels. Also added HID fogs and tinted the tails a bit. Still have the reflectors to do.

Then this past weekend my friend and I decided to detail the car.

That's it for now. Will be adding a custom subwoofer soon.

Wow, what a transformation. Love the color contrast to the wheel. Paint looks so really sweet too. :good:

Nice. Another Sapphire Blue FX.

Looking good, Digging the look. Those headlights turned out killer. The stock chrome headlights do not look good on the blue.

I know you tinted the tails, but the clear tailights look excellent on the Sapph. You should definitely try to get your hands on a set.

Looks good. I love the blue! Are you thinking of any performance mods?

Not sure yet. Maybe just an intake and exhaust. Def love the sound of the nismo exhaust I've heard on youtube, but then again I love the factory sound too.

Yeah I've been on fleabay trying to find a set of used ones but they're so crazy expensive. Maybe I'll convince her to buy it. Don't want to use all my money I'm saving for my cobb for my main toy lol.

Looks good, doing a great job with all the changes and mods. You need to get your hands on a set of spacers to show off the drop more and make the look a bit more aggressive. Tucked in wheels on a lowered car don't look too good :)

yeah it def needs spacers. what are you guys using for spacers and how wide/thick can you safely go? i've seen some other rides use like 20+mm. is that normal?

I'm running 25mm on my front wheels. I will be moving to 30mm within the next little bit. I would be extremely hesitant going anymore than 30mm.

Honestly I think 25 is even a lot of excess stress on your wheel bearings.

Nicely done. I had 30mm on my fronts. Used to have them in all corners.

Update on the past couple of months with this car. Stock exhaust sprung a leak so I decided to upgrade to a HKS replica made for the 350z/G35.

Got tired of the other wheels so I ordered a new set of wheels. 20x10 +40 square set up on 295/45/20 with 15mm spacers.

Decided to plastidip all of the chrome trim/emblems

The chrome handles were an eye sore so I got some Rogue covers and color matched them

Then I cut half a coil off the front H&R springs but haven't had time to trim the rear spring mounts

Color match the door handles is a nice touch. Love how it looks. Gloss black the rest of the trim and molding pieces should give it a luxurious look.
